Entercom’s Rapidly-Emerging Crisis How Can You Help Save WRKO?

WRKO’s Sister Stations Traded Away

by Brian Maloney, January 18th, 2007 at 12:53pm

If only Boston could be so lucky!

Just minutes ago, it was announced that WRKO’s sister talk stations in Seattle, KIRO-AM and KTTH-AM, will be traded to Bonneville International of Salt Lake City in exchange for music stations in San Francisco and Cincinnati.

Because Bonneville is a very well- run firm, it’s a terrific break for Puget Sound Area listeners and should cheer up miserable station staffers.

Meanwhile, back here, it’s John Henry and the Red Sox owners who have an option to buy part of WRKO, which would be far more likely to move it well to the left, given the team’s partisan political nature.

What’s it going to take for Bay State conservatives and moderates to get a break?

What a shock…incorrect facts on this website! The deal is actually Cincinnati and Seattle stations for three San Francisco stations.

I’m not sure of your point. Yes, there are three Seattle stations involved, I didn’t mention KBSG because it isn’t relevant to this discussion.

Didn’t mean to be confusing: Entercom gets three in San Francisco, Bonneville gets seven in Seattle and Cincinnati.
