WRKO Website Features Boston Skyline Mirrored (UPDATED)

A SaveWRKO reader alerts us to a rather embarrassing mistake by the WRKO Management:

The new management at WRKO know so little about the city that they cannot even tell that their banner picture reverses the Boston skyline. The Federal Reserve Bank, which is on the far right; 2 International Place is incorrectly to the left of 1 International.

Here is the incorrect skyline, which shall be preserved forever here on SaveWRKO:

If WRKO changes their header, you’ll know why, and where they’ve been.

UPDATE, 2/13/07 8:12 PM: Well, looks like the folks over at WRKO are still checking us out… it didn’t take long for them to change the header on their website. It now features the State House:

This blog entry was originally posted February 12, just before 8 pm. It is now February 13, just after 8 pm. I’m not sure when they made their switch, but we all know why.

Now, if I was part of the WRKO management, what would I do to recover from this embarrassing mistake? I would probably expect them to make it appear as if they are regularly changing the header graphic on their site so that it doesn’t give the impression they were responding to this blog. What will WRKO do next?

DePetro’s site still has a Boston skyline on it. (He is set to debut on WPRO on Wed.) For awhile, it was outdated: He was on WRKO
but his site said “Broadcasting from the Top
of the R.I. State House: The Independent Man”.
Parts of his site still said he was on WHJJ.
Now the Boston skyline is still on DePetro.com
but maybe soon the RI State House, Hospital
Trust Bldg, etc., will replace it.

Good for DePetro. In my never ending search for an RKO alternative I’m hoping PRO will come in in my area.

You can listen to DePetro online at 630wpro.com. I’ll be listening. He is good at what he does, but he’s not suited to be in Boston. He’s a Rhode Islander and will do very well down there.

I don’t know if you recall, but DePetro introduced Cranston Mayor Steve Laffey at a rally announcing Laffey’s run for US Senate. He also lived in East Greenwich the entire time his show was in Boston.

Oh, and Tommy Taxes is horrible. The co-hosts are horrible. Mariellen Burns would stoke more fires than the current, pandering line-up. This is not the WRKO I know…

Nice catch on the graphic…even if they didn’t exactly turn the city on its ear, at least they flipped it around some! Draw and quarter the graphic designer!

I’ve listened to the AM show a little each day and while I thought he talked too much and listened not enough on day one and still pandered too much on days two and three, he is improving incrementally (not exponentially). Maybe Jason Wolfe does have a clue - he certainly made WEEI a compelling station to listen to, and I bet he’s working OT with this guy since they have so much invested.
