Subject: Red Sox Spring Training on WRKO

A Letter from The Program Director of WRKO:

Dear WRKO Listeners:

As you know, last May, WRKO entered into a 10 year agreement to broadcast Boston Red Sox Baseball. We are extremely excited about this new partnership and are very confident that the Red Sox will play a major role in our plan to take this station to the next level. Our contract calls for us to air 15 spring training games from Florida, in addition to the full 162 game regular season schedule. A handful of the those 15 spring broadcasts begin at 1p on weekdays and as such have caused us to pre-empt the Rush Limbaugh show. I apologize to those of you who are Rush fans, be assured that this only affects us on eight days in March. The decision to air spring training games on WRKO was necessary in order to properly establish that WRKO is the new flagship station for the Red Sox.
Once we get to the regular season, all weekday afternoon games (with the exception of the two openers) will air on our sister station WEEI, and Rush will air, in his entirety, on WRKO.
Thank you for understanding and support for WRKO. I greatly appreciate it.

    >>A handful

THREE this week. More next week. And yes Howie was not mentioned in the “insiders email” though there was a plug for his show Friday from the Harp
    right under it.

Mr. Wolfe should have written “A handful of the those 15 spring broadcasts begin at 1p on weekdays and as such have caused us to pre-empt the Rush Limbaugh show AND THE HOWIE CARR SHOW’s first hour. I apologize to those of you who are Rush AND HOWIE fans, be assured that this only affects us on eight days in March.”

Alas, the very medium that I built is crumbling all around us at the hands of Julie Kahn. In my day, Julie Kahn and her lackey Jason Wolfe would never have risen to their current positions! In those days you needed talent and vision to get to the top. They would have been fetching me coffee and cigarettes.

Ten years!?! Will the station last that long running it the way they are? Or will Entercom write it off as a loss and subsidise its existence for that time? Howie had segment on “things that have come and gone” and one caller said “talk radio in Boston”. I had to LOL. -johnQ

Where is Judge Seidlin. I think some heads need to be knocked.
