A New Finneran Sponsor? Hack Breakfast Defines Talk Radio’s Purpose

New Media Rattles Deval

by Brian Maloney, March 15th, 2007 at 05:47pm

After seeing today’s major Patrick Administration shake-up, I can’t help but believe pressure from talk radio, blogs and the Boston Herald played a major role in these moves:

Patrick adds staff, wife’s aide resigns

Just days after telling the press he was happy with his staff, Gov. Deval Patrick said today he’s adding two new aides to his team while the $72,000-a-year aide for the governor’s wife has resigned.

Amy Gorin, hired as Diane Patrick’s chief-of-staff, said today she is leaving the post.

“At this time, I want to be as helpful as I can be Diane as a friend and I feel that I can best accomplish that outside of the Executive Office,” she said in a statement.

The governor said Gorin will “continue to be a valued advisor and friend.”

The governor had come under criticism for hiring Gorin to the taxpayer-funded job.

To help polish his image, the governor also announced he is adding veteran communications expert Joe Landolfi to his team.

He is also bringing on David Morales, now a senior aide to Senate President Robert Travaglini, as a senior advisor.

On which side of this issue was Tom Finneran?

Deval has proven himself to be a fraud and people who voted for him have proven themselves to be exactly what I suspected all along… absolute morons. And to think that WRKO jumped on the Deval bandwagon by hiring a convicted felon to be the flag waiver. Since I don’t listen to this station anymore, I guess I won’t be able to hear how Finneran spins the latest Deval disaster.

I refuse to listen to WRKO during my morning drive. I podcast Limbaugh and listen to Carr on my drive home. The ratings book surely will reflect people like me…and there are THOUSANDS of us who have treated WRKO morning-drive like a plague. My only suspicion is that if a Dem gets elected to the White House, he (or she) will ram-rod the ‘Fairness Doctrine’ as a means of jettisoning conservative talk radio. WRKO is probably trying to set themselves up for that eventuality by letting a bleeding Liberal like tommy have their morning show.

Julie told me to say that Deval is the best, just peachy keen — and he will prove it if only your vast, right-wing conspiracy stops piling on.

You had better be careful, lest Deval take his drapes and go home and leave Tim Murray to govern us…

Julie wanted you to know that.

    VB on Fox25 nailed it.

Good news is Deval is cleaning house.

REALLY BAD NEWS is he’s firing 3 remaining members of the parole board to replace with his own appointees. He already replaced the rest of the board. Can someone check the facts on this?

Looks like Kerry Healey may have the last laugh. Unfortunate for us who have these predators unleashed upon us.

so none of you listen to finneran’s show, but you all bash it anyway. take a listen now and then — he’s got guests on both sides of most issues he discusses, and it is the only local talk show really devoted to local issues. sorry guys, but he’s getting pretty good at it.

Let me put this in perspective here-

He didn’t have the right people in place to do the job so he just hired 2 more. He didn’t get rid of the halfwits who were doing the crappy jobs, just added 2 more people to the payroll.

Travs on the way out so his boy got plumb job.
Quid pro quo? I think so.

Gorin , a family friend and political crony quits before she can fan the flame any more. Don’t be surprised to see her pop up again sometime soon.

In summation, you kept the people doing a crappy job, added to payroll with 2 other hacks and I should be happy?

    Jesus I’m in Bizzaro world.

Bish, my focus was on the resignation of his wife’s aide.

At first glance, it looked like good news. Now it appears the aide was thrown under the bus to cover for a new hiring spree.

Yeh, the dead air time and stuttering make for REALLY great radio.

I’d rather listen to Wizard of Ah clips for four hours.

Sorry if I went off Brian. Great news that the deadwoods gone. Its just , as with everything Patrick does, there seems to be a layer of stupidity involved.

What’s with you people? He is the GOVERNOR of a state, and his wife (ill or not) is the FIRST LADY. They were elected by the vast majority of the people. And so many are talking about him as if he was a nobody.

I for one want a governor to have a safe car, a clean office, and someone to take his or his wife’s phone calls. I mean really, if our chosen governor and his wife don’t deserve these basics, who does?

You may think this is a victory for the right wing, but you have only served to take away the dignity of the people’s office.

I have this advice for Julie: touch up your roots, babe. You need a better hairdresser…

  • 16. cerebralwaste  |  March 16th, 2007 at 3:30 pm

    Henry

You call a CADDY basic? W.T.H.? My property taxes are going up, the town I live in is damn near bankrupt and this “Guv” is spending money like a drunken sailor on shore leave. Enough is enough I say. Enough of the Felonious Felon Finneran as well, sucking up to the “Guv” while the rest of us pick up the tab.

    from today’s Globe:

    >>Headlines about lavish spending for office furnishings and a state car — and about an ill-advised phone call on behalf of his former business associates — have hurt his image.

Note no mention of the $72k Amy Gorin
    appointment (she’s since resigned); they
figure it wasn’t worth mentioning I guess.

  • 18. Lexi  |  March 18th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

Henry get with the progam…probably 30-40% of those that elected this person are having serious second thoughts! Safe car (the most expenseive!), clean office (satin drapes!) and someone to take his wife’s calls (at $72K/yr!) - let me do the shopping and as far as the calls to his wife - send them up to me. I’ll handle them for $40K!!

This man had NO CLUE what this job was all about and what bothers me beyond those issues stated above is his sense of arrogance and entitlement!

Don’t blame me - I voted for Kerry Healy!

  • 19. Moonbat 1  |  March 19th, 2007 at 3:01 pm

I wish Deval would tell everyone to eff off and get back to governing with the mandate we sent him to Beacon Hill with. We want more Big Nanny laws: outlaw smoking, scotch, and tobacco in all forms. Get us state control of business. Start communal farms where no one is better than anyone else. etcc

At least a drunken sailor spends his own money.
