Mid-morning Ratings: Feinburg Struggling
by Brian Maloney, May 3rd, 2007 at 02:28pm
Tommy Tune Out isn’t the only one struggling on WRKO, according to the latest Boston ratings.
Mid-morning host Todd Feinburg’s numbers fared even worse, turning in Air America-like results. Between 10am and noon, WRKO plunged 71%, with a tiny 0.8 share of the audience in the key 25-54 demographic.
That’s half of Finneran’s result and far lower than the already dismal figures turned in by former WRKO talker John DePetro.
In fact, in looking at every rated talk show host at any time on any station in Boston, Todd was by far dead last, while Finneran ranked second to last in terms of audience share.
In the past, both Feinburg and DePetro have pointed to former morning host Scott Allen Miller as the reason behind their ratings struggles.
Wherever WRKO’s morning listeners went, it wasn’t to rival WTKK, however. Don Imus was down 3%, while Feinburg’s competitor Michael Graham was down 8%.
To his credit, Todd seems like a nice guy and has challenged Tommy Tune Out on his typically idiotic stances. Some of our readers do like him.
At the same time, however, it’s clear he’s there because he’s a Grade A suck-up to Kahn’s imperial regime. A bigger issue is sincerity: it rarely comes across as though he believes what he’s saying.
And that sums up WRKO’s troubles to a T: the station is all about loyalty to management rather than ratings and revenue.

Ummm…the 30% bump up from Millers 24-54s has sort of made the ‘Finneran tanked’ meme non-operative, so now you’re going to attack Feinburg, who’s show is an almost non-stop liberal bashfest? Whaddya think Kahn told him, “bash the crap out of Patrick, but don’t be sincere about it.” ?
Yep, there is some credibility in question here, but it isn’t Feinburg’s.

I gotta say that I formerly thought Tommy Finneran was on par intellectually with Billy Bulger.
No more. This guy is a nitwit, with the malapropisms to prove it.
How die Empress Kahn and Lackey Jason ever think he’d make a good radio man? He talks too much, used “and the like” every other sentence, and is just kind of dopey. I guess, on Beacon Hill, the guy with a 99 IQ is king.

How did Empress Kahn and Lackey Jason ever think he’d make a good radio man? He talks too much, uses “and the like” every other sentence, and is just kind of dim-witted overall. I guess, on Beacon Hill, the guy with a 99 IQ is king? Sad.

Also, Julie does not tell me what to post. Instead, she emails me the talking points.

Oddly, half of my real posts get spiked, but ’spoof’ postings seem to have no trouble getting posted.
Luckily for me, anyone reading this site who got out of the 4th grade on his own hook knows the difference.
Brian must feel the water lapping around his ankles as SaveWRKO gets ready to head for the bottom. Too bad, for if it had been reality-based, it might have actually had some traction and added something to the conversation.

“Thomas Bench” has always been a cheerleader for whatever hair-brained idea RKO comes up with. It’s not surprising given where he was and what he’s doing now.

A couple of days ago, I was listening to Feinburg. An older lady called in and said something to the effect of “management should expand your time slot, Todd”. There was then dead air (she was silenced)…followed by her saying the words “from 6 to 10″. Oh, so now they are bleeping out any on-air criticisms of the felon? As if omitting them is going to get more people to listen? How pathetic.

Which ideas were those? Be specific, in fact, actually lift those ideas from my prior posts, and point out what was counterfactual with them. Thanks in advance.

Well, since you asked, right now I’m sitting on my patio, looking over at the beach, typing on my laptop, and wondering if I should drive up to Maine and put Timber Oil on the cottage deck. Probably not as exciting as what you’re doing, but that’s retired life for you.
But, thanks for asking.

Okay, time’s up.
If you’re going to fold on the deal, why bother to ante up in the first place?
