Questioning WRKO’s Future The Carr/Barnicle/Imus Triangle

Howie Carr and Mike Barnicle

by Matt Margolis, July 9th, 2007 at 07:34pm

As was noted in Jessica Heslam’s breaking story about Howie Carr’s departure from WRKO, Mike Barnicle, who took over the morning slot after Imus was taken off the air, “failed to strike a morning show deal with the station.”

Were the negotiations with Howie Carr the reason for Barnicle’s failure to get a morning show deal with WTKK?

UPDATE: Another interesting question.. Did WTKK’s former Program Director Paula O’Connor’s sudden firing in May have something to do with these secret negotiations? O’Connor was once Howie Carr’s producer.

Brian predicted that her firing meant “big changes to come for WTKK.” Who knew then just how big?

UPDATE: Barnicle on Howie Carr back in 2004:

”What a pathetic figure [...] Can you imagine being as consumed with envy and jealousy toward me for as long as it has consumed him?”

Barnicle is so full of himself! How can he think Howie is jealous? Please! Barnicle is a lowlife liar and plagiarizer. When I hear him I want to scream. He is such a know it all.
