What Did Howie Say?
by Brian Maloney, September 19th, 2007 at 11:53pm
As I missed the Howie interview, I’ll have to rely on you for the details. I’m in the middle of one of my occasional anti-Comcast rebellions and that means using an antenna and watching stations from Providence and Maine.
Lately, stations from New Brunswick and Quebec have been overpowering their American counterparts on my dial, so it was CBC running Arrested Development on channel four and a French hockey show on seven. Five was roaring in from Bangor.
Let’s hope Howie’s interview ends up on YouTube.
UPDATE: Even better, WBZ has posted the unedited, entire interview, 21 minutes long! Very little of this actually aired. Howie really sticks it Entercom and the Finne-felon. Thanks, WBZ!
Howie: the right answer to the question about what your daughters should learn from this is quite simple- they should stay the hell away from the radio business! That’s an easy one.
Also: Howie talks about the opportunities to reach a new audience via FM, but admits he listens to satellite radio in his own car. Yikes.

Just finished watching the 21-minute video on the WBZ-TV 4 website. Howie seemed completely at ease talking about the situation and the main theme that I took from his comments was along the lines of, “I don’t want to work for WRKO any longer and they can’t make me.”
Howie will be on the air on WTKK - it’s just a matter of when.
Also, it was nice to see Howie at home for the interview. He seems to have a very nice and supportive family and I tend to believe that he has all the confidence in the world that he will prevail. Good for him.
The Felon’s on-air days are numbered. Good for all of us.
I will continue to listen to Howie no matter how long the wait. We will soon enjoy his dulcet tones in crystal clear FM.

Not sure how long it’ll be this way but if you go to http://www.wrko.com you can see a polar bear
(wearing a white T-shirt) in a snowstorm. Basically all white. Nothing on there. hmm.
WTKK’s site unveils the new logo and puts forth their statement about the Howie situation.

On the Ch 4 report, they said that Carr intends to appeal the ruling and he hopes to be on
WTKK very soon. They say Entercom feels he is still their employee but Howie says he
won’t be back. Or at least he’s on vacation…from “one of this three jobs”.

also on the WTKK site: Barnicle’s face and name are GONE. Finally.

Listening to satellite radio isn’t a bad thing. I listen to XM in the morning, but I flip back to WBZ for the traffic. The XM traffic report are almost useless. On the way home, it’s Howie. The mediums aren’t mutually exclusive.

Brian - thanks for posting the link. I may not always agree with Howie, but I am always entertained and so he has done his job well. I wish him the best and look forward to hearing him in the mornings although I’ll miss him in the evening.

Carr clearly has gotten and is getting bad legal advice.
So sad, but his goose looks cooked.
Maybe he can retire after so many years of 800 large and Kathy’s real estate sales income?
Somewhere, Jimmy Severino II is laughing…

Howie referred vaguely to all these “bad” things that he did — what was he talking about?
Is this what that Celtic Frost loser was referring to?
Are there things we do not know about our boy Howie?
Please help.

Is it possible Capin’ Graff will be off the air for 6 months or more while all the legal crap plays out and the lawyers make money?
Who’s got a good pirate radio station that needs some on air talent?
How expensive and difficult is it to setup some internet streaming site where the Capin’ can go off on WRKO, Entercom, and all of the hacks in MA while the legal saga continues? Would that be a violation of his agreement with WRKO / Entercom? If not, wouldn’t it be a real slap in the face for them? Imagine http://www.capingraff.com. Call in or E-mail / blog in with comments. Almost worth the cost to setup just to see Entercom’s / WRKO’s reaction.

He may have bad legal advice someone said earlier but he sure has good PR people. Howie has made a hell of a lot of enemies thru the years and I wonder what power and where they are weilding in this drama.

I liked the bookshelves with nothing on them but copy after copy of the Bulger book.

I love Howie but that “y’know” tic has got to go. He sounds like Joe Sciacca on “Beat the Press” when he does that.
