Finneran Gets Cancer Diagnosis Lots Of Disappointment To Go Around

This Changes Nothing

by Brian Maloney, December 13th, 2007 at 02:12pm

Obviously, nobody wants Tom Finneran, or anyone else to die of cancer, save perhaps the murderous dictators of Zimbabwe, North Korea and a few other global tyrants.

Finneran’s a solid couple of steps below those thugs, but no angel, either. A cancer diagnosis will generate sympathy, but it doesn’t change who he is and what he has done.

In fact, if Finneran does have a moral conscience, which I doubt, this might be a good time to reflect on the damage he has done to struggling families and others in Massachusetts, through higher taxes and out-of-control spending. His legacy will be one of corruption, arrogance, abuse of power and tiny radio ratings.

This diagnosis doesn’t change the fact that Finneran subverted the will of the voters when he quashed a state income tax reduction they approved.

Nor does it undo his racist redistricting scheme, one which led to his felony conviction on subsequent perjury charges, or a lifetime of placing his cronies ahead of Bay State citizens at nearly every opportunity.

Tom Finneran is facing cancer and has our support in that fight, but it does not make him a saint.

    Your classless, Mr, Maloney

Do you think Julie would like a Mulligan on Finneran?

I may have had abysmally low / anemic ratings (even lower than Tommy Tuneout) — but I gotta believe that she’d love to have my brand of upstate NY humor back in Boston.

I hear that even my faux Latino and Indian accents would be an improvement over Tommy Tuneout.

And to think I tried to do the right thing by J & J and not rock the boat when they fired me for my piss-poor ratings!

I gotta give you this one, Maloney; you are spot on.

I love it when the Tommy sycophants come out of the woodwork to praise their “hero” — who, as you so adroitly point out, is so unworthy.

Now he needs to take time off to see to his health and spend time with his family.

Best chance for him and rko to recover.

I know I’ll feel better just knowing he’s off the air.

    To WJF III,

I’m not going to comment on Finneran’s character, capabilities or malady. His character and capabilities are on the record, and anybody can see them and conclude what they want. The only thing anyone can say about his malady is that it is tragic.

That said, if you are going to call someone classless, you should have the courtesy and the courage to identify yourself. Hiding behind a handel while you insult someone is guttless. Brian’s courage is clear as he had the courtesy to you to post your gutless and pathetic comment.

I voted for that state income tax reduction. I finally had to reduce my own taxes…by moving to NH.

Cancer is a terrible thing. Best wishes to Finneran for his swift recovery.

    Good point pat L.

If you don’t speak at this point you are hypocritical.

He included in his statement appropriate sentiment regarding illness.

good but tough post to make in my opinion by brian.

    I would expect no less.

I’m sorry to hear that Mr. Fineran is ill. No one deserves cancer and I wish him a speedy recovery.

Brian, can you start a topic about Mr. Fineran’s co-conspirators, the syncopants that Hugh mentions? First on the list should be the dreadful Steve Bailey.

  • 10. Mike  |  December 14th, 2007 at 12:10 pm

Brian, you are spot-on. Nobody wants to see Finneran die from cancer, but it doesn’t change who the man is or the fact that he’s an abject failure of a talk-show host.

That said, it’s pretty amazing the difference between conservitive blogs and liberal ones. When Laura Ingraham was diagnosed with breast cancer, the leftie sites were absolutely flooded with giddy posts gleaming over the prospect of her possible death (which, thank God, was premature). Ditto Tony Snow. The fact that we wish a siwft recovery to someone we are at such odds with really says something about the two sides of the political spectrum.

    Pat L:
You are a “yahoo.” I am sorry I found this “loser-website.” For Mr. Maloney to attack Tom Finneran, with phony ad hominems, while attacking him peronally, is the stuff of a small minded man.

Happy Holidays, Pat: relax, take a deep breath.

A 4-6 hour surgery on the 21st and back at the mic in less than two weeks!!! Egads, he’ll still have the Foley catheter in and be a space cadet even without any meds. I can believe that docs are letting him do it. Remote from his house maybe….ugh…trust me…if this guy can pull this off he has my respect. Most guys I know (me included) were wrecks for three weeks, took two months off, then half days for 4-6 weeks. Nothing heavy for 6 months, and it takes a year to feel normal again. A radical prostatectomy is major frggin’ surgery. I may not like your act Mr. Speaker, but God speed and good recovery. Get well soon.

Wilvus, the poor guy is probably in denial about what faces him. I too pray for him and all others in his situation. Godspeed indeed.
