Widening The Doors
by Brian Maloney, January 17th, 2008 at 04:49pm
In order to comply with the Americans With Delusional Abilities Act, Entercom may be forced to widen the doors at Shoe Central in order to accommodate the surging ego of new host Reese Hopkins.
That’s according according to one Guest Street resident, who tells us the former New Jersey-based hip hop producer speaks rather highly of his own performance. “He thinks he’s better than Howie Carr,” adds the insider.
And on another Hopkins front, we’ve been hearing from a few New Yorkers regarding his past and present activities. Here’s one that arrived today:
I see Reese Hopkins is using old Star and Buc Wild routines like “Hug a White Woman Week” for his show in Boston.
One of the main reasons he left Star’s show was out of embarrassment that he became a predictable joke. I remember him saying on air once that he didn’t like his skin color. As long as you don’t ask him to
produce a voter registration card, he should be alright.

Oh, good grief! If one doesn’t have Satellite Radio, do yourself a favour and listen to Michael Graham on WTKK (96.9 FM) OR Mike Gallagher on WTTT (11.50 AM) instead of this dope that has “tickets on himself” (as they say in Australia!). Their shows are waaaaayyy better than his could ever hope to be.

I hate to break it to ya Reese,,,,,but,,,,you ain’t NO HOWIE CARR. Not even close!

I know I am totally in the minority on this, but I actually like this Reese guy.
He is a total outsider but he his is at least 1000 times easier to listen to than the Felon.
Like all in radio, he may not be totally original, but I find him entertaining at times.
He is no Howie Carr, but let’s face it: Howie Carr is no Howie Carr. He is phoning it in everyday. This is not our Howie.
I dunno if you anyone else caught it, but Reese was on WAAF for several minutes with the Hillman Morning show. He sounded a lot different. He sounded like he was in his element on the FM side.
Give the man a little more time. And if his ego is as bad as the rumors, maybe they can go find another guy willing to be talked down to by the Felon and then do a whopping 2 hour program.

I’m torn. Todd could put me to sleep. Reese is in way over his head, but he never makes me want to take a mid-morning nap while listening to his “120 minutes.”
But Reese, get real. Howie Carr’s voiced ads alone could kick you back to gunshot radio in NYC.

Think the answer to this is easy- Reese would be a whole lot better off going back to hip-hop FM morning radio.

That is totally f’d.
Haven’t even heard the loser. May be their own grave. Probably been said before but: let’s see Entercome try the long term torture crap on that dude. HA HA HA HA HA HA!
Do yourself a favor keep it tuned to WTKK. They are making adjustments and improvements all the time. And one of my favorite features is the continuity between shows and stars. That is something WRKO always sucked at. I mean I know you have to control it a bit but the egos at rko would almost never talk about what went on in the other hours but at tkk they don’t mind at all and seem to encourage it. It makes a less abrupt transition show to show. Love it!

Yo Yo Yo
This bro gots to go
His show is lame
and Wolfe’s to blame
Reese is a clown
Ratings be down
WRKO really blows
Makes one miss Andy Moes
Stuck in the mire
with that Affirmative Action hire
I know it’s odd
but there were better off with Todd!

Once again, just when it’s safe to go back into the water, Celtic Racist comes in here to muckrake.
Way to go, cave-man.

that was funny MC Celtic Frost lol. I dislike Reese, I gave him a chance, but I just don’t even listen to WRKO anymore, and if I do, it’s during commercials on WEEI. I like show crossovers. I liked it when WEEI Had the different personalities work together a few years ago. But at the very least they need to talk about what went on on the other shows. I remember the Milena deValle saga, where they had all the hosts working together. Much much better. What happened to Todd???

I don’t feel your pain.
To torture my kids I once set all my radio presets to 680. Thanks to the powers that thought it was a good idea to hire the felon I have found 96.9, 830, 850, 1030 and seek. They have broadened my horizons…my path to enlightenment has begun. Now if I were only beautiful.
My dial on hits 680 between 12-7.

MC Celtic Frost, I have to admit, I miss Andy Moes, he was one of a kind. As for this Reese character, I just tuned into RKO and he should be coming on in a minute, I will intentionally listen to him today, up until now he was just basically background noise!
Tony, Todd was offered another assignment which he refused, they then wanted to pair him up with the felon and Todd was for doing that, however, the talks have stalled and have been put in limbo.

Instead of listening to the Reese Hopkins debacle on WRKO, take a little friendly advice from your old pal NHradiofan and tune in to The Neal Boortz Show on 95.1 FM - WXTX.
He is on from 10am - 12 Noon. Rush Limbaugh follows him. You can get the signal from pretty much everywhere in the Boston area. You can also listen to him online at boortz.com. And, no, I am not paid to recommend his show. You can trust me, I’m not like the others.
/I’m NHradiofan and I approved this message.

Hugh,
Don’t you have an ACT-UP meeting to attend? Talk a walk you catamitic troll
14. Amanda Rekonwith | January 18th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
In time, we forget about the originals like Andy Moes. His stories about being a narc in Hyannis were priceless. (I’m talkin’ to you, Joe for Oil!) Wonder why more cabdrivers aren’t used that way around here?
15. Barbara | January 18th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Amanda, Andy’s stories were fantastic, he was one of a kind. Jerry Williams was another one of a kind, Jess Cain, Gene Burns, David Brudnoy, where have all the great ones gone,,,,as with everything else,,,,,they just don’t make ‘em like they used to!
I actually listened to Reese this morning as opposed to just having him on as background noise,,,,,,the man needs to lay off the caffeine,,,,,,,they just don’t make ‘em like they used to!
16. Jeff | January 19th, 2008 at 10:46 am
Enough with the Jess Cain and Jerry Williams, they’re gone. Nobody does Talk Radio like that anymore anyway. Can you imagine someone doing New Braintree or Seatbelts for months on end now? Nobody would listen. Heck, they tune out non stop Immigration Talk too. The news cycle and tastes are compeletely different now. Even Jerry would have figured that one out. I get the point, nobody seems to be “as good” a Jerry. Not true. I hear talk radio on XM that’s great, Savage is great, Ingraham, Rush, Hannity (sometimes.) WEEI has some good topic driven talk radio in the mornings. My advice, get a Satellite radio and when there’s some big local news, take a chance with some of these pikers in our city.

Reese has to be the all time worst WRKO find. And I’m including sleazy hack Mariellen Burns and warmed over “Journalist” Ellen O’Brien.
Reese combines two personality traits that are obnoxious in real life but deadly in talk radio: Stupidity and Arrogance.
He just sucks.
18. Rocky | January 19th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Reese is so awful that I foresee him doing MWRA adverts and holding a weekend slot on WTTK.
19. Dean Rayls | January 21st, 2008 at 5:46 pm
Reese is stupid - he’s not funny, and he’s a racist! He is the worst on the radio, let alone RKO, and makes the felon look and sound good!
20. Maurice | January 22nd, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Hey,
Sounds Like Star (From Star & Buc Wild) has recovered from his liver transplant. Talking about how Reese never liked his skin color. That’s funny coming from a half Black half Italian pedophile that wrote in his book “Objective Hate” MLK was a docile Negro. Brian, stay off the Reese subject until you get some real facts about the guy. This site is filled with failed and bitter radio host that never got the chance Reese did.
21. Brian Maloney | January 22nd, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Reese, quit while you are miles behind. Save those paychecks, you will need them.
22. djm | January 24th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Reese is surprisingly terrible. He talks a lot of smack and shuts callers down, but he can’t back up his arrogance with anything other than “it’s my show.” Todd might have put some people to sleep but at least he could craft an argument so you could understand where he’s coming from.
Two more hours in the day my radio won’t be tuned to RKO.
