McCain Uses Herald Against Romney
by Brian Maloney, January 30th, 2008 at 11:48pm
McCain’s smug and arrogant tone was tough enough to take during the CNN GOP debate, but the kicker was his reference to obtaining an endorsement from the “very, very conservative” Boston Herald.
It made me sick to think McCain was able to use the Herald as a tool against Mitt. So why did the paper make such a foolish pick?
I think it’s been years since the Herald has been “very, very conservative.” Since then, it has failed to adequately forge its own path, instead sometimes positioning itself as the Globe Lite.
I’ve stood up for the Herald many times, but its endorsement of McCain was truly boneheaded. The Beacon Hill elitists still look down on the paper, so why bother trying to win them over?

You’re nothing but a Romney shill, and I have no idea why.
Romney came to Mass saying he would build the Republican party, and it was because of him that we have Deval. His “rebuilding” of the party led Repubs to have even less state legislators then before 2002, and the best “successor” he could give us was Muffy, who was an utter disaster. He was an opportunist who used Mass to gain a national platform.
I, for one, was happy to hear McCain call Romney out on the “turnaround” Romney claimed to have brought to Mass, and without raising taxes. Forget the fees, ask Romney why he couldn’t get the income tax rate lowered to 5% when the voters approved it years ago. So much for fighting for working people, when he won’t fight for the tax cut they voted on. How about fighting to reinstitute the no-fee car registration renewals that Weld brought? Romney personifies “all hat and no cattle”

The Herald is “conservative” the way McCain is. It’s a fitting endorsement, both change opinions with the tide, hold no solid fundamental beliefs or standards and will happily side with the open borders/NAU crowd. The Herald reads like an ADL pamphlet, constant scare mongering-from Iran nuclear capability to Ron Paul supporters being “fringe”…the Herald is the lowbrow version of the Globe. Romney shouldn’t fret over that snub.

I wonder what the noted intellectual Celtic Frost thinks of McCain?
Brian, both McCain and Romney seem kind of arrogant to me. Although Mitt is oh-so-yummy. But McCain is “schooling” our Mitt much like Teddy Kennedy and organized labor did in that Senate matchup so many years ago.
I, for one, am supporting Barack Obama. Natch. Did you catch him in that People magazine? Wow. Barack will bring full marriage equality to the US.

I thought Romney looked like the
once-smug fratboy who finds his
home-coming queen girlfriend in
the back seat of a rocking Rambler
with Bluto Blutarsky.
Was hoping that McCain would answer
Mitt’s leadership claims with two words:
Big Dig.
Say goodnight, Mitt. And the medi and
ad agencies say thanks for the $$.

The thought of that surly, vindictive, mean spirited McCain with his finger on the button scares the “bleep” out of me.
Sorenson, I totally agree with you. The sheeple just drink the Kool-Aid and listen to the endorsements that are bought & paid for in the back rooms in Washington. Politics as usual with McCain!
Wake up people!

It’s the price of admission for talk radio locally: you must HATE Romney or no gig.
Severino and other well-established people don’t have to play by these rules.

Neal……reese is a clown, he’s all over the board, first he was for Giuliani, then he switched to Huckabee for about two days, now he’s for McLame. It’s all a ratings thing with him, drums up callers, makes it look like he’s doing something. Tomorrow he’ll be for SHRILLery, eventually he’ll start pushing Barry Hussein.

I think we know who Reese will be pulling the lever for…that is,if he can vote! For all we know,he may be a felon just like his lead in..
