Charlton And Me WBZ’s Peculiar Reporting

Mitt-Haters Unite

by Brian Maloney, April 7th, 2008 at 12:19pm

WRKO’s Gregg Jackson has become a pied piper for the anti-Mitt Romney movement, a tiny but exceptionally vocal lot.

CNS News reports that Jackson and his cohorts have taken out a full page ad in an Arizona newspaper, accusing him of bringing $50 abortions-on-demand to Massachusetts (first I’ve heard of this) and a variety of other charges.

The goal is to prevent McCain from selecting Romney as his running mate.

Here’s where the argument really derails, however:

Jackson, author of “Conservative Comebacks to Liberal Lies” and a talk show host on WRKO in Boston, said Romney is the most liberal of all the presidential candidates, including Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Romney is to the left of Obama? Does that mean Deval Patrick is more conservative than Mitt as well? Not bloody likely.

    Who???

Gregg Jackson???? Never heard of him. Does he do a weekend “spackle” show?

I don’t listen, how am I supposed to know who Gregg Jackson is? You could have put in his time slot for those of us that only have RKO on Howie’s show. (You can find Rush almost anywhere.)

Gregg Jackson has become somewhat of a whackjob since he moved to the whacky state of Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanold. I’ve heard Jackson spew this nonsense and imo, I think there’s more going on here, maybe Mitt promised him a spot when he was gov of MA and didn’t follow through, it seems personal to me!

  • 3. BigBish  |  April 7th, 2008 at 2:14 pm

Greg who? Never heard of him.

  • 4. Joe from Brighton  |  April 7th, 2008 at 2:55 pm

Gregg Jackson has a hair across his a** when it comes to Mitt Romney; Gregg blames Mitt for “gay marriage,” as well as every other liberal idea that harms America, like abortion.

Lil Gregg tried to sabotage Mitt on Howie’s radio show a few months back, and then carped on the Mass Resistance website that Romney had insulted him.

We can partly thank lil Gregg for John McPain, our nominee.

Gregg’s show on WRKO is listenable only when Ann Coulter is the guest. Other than that it’s two men who don’t belong on the radio except as occasional callers on a slow night.

I wonder how long until Gregg needs a new job after Kahn and Coffeeboy end his WRKO run.

    Better sell some more books!

Yes, Jackson is getting progressively anti-Mitt Romney these days. I just want to know if all the complaints he has against Romney are valid. Is he right? Is his anger justified? I’m not sure…I need to find out the facts. I don’t dislike Romney…but when I hear Gregg Jackson, I sometimes wonder what I missed. I want to side with the truth, I guess.

    Hi bjd and Big Bish,

I didn’t know who he was either and had to google to find out he is a co-host of Pundit Review on Sunday evenings (and I even occasionally listen to that show!)

  • 7. rebel in massachusetts  |  April 7th, 2008 at 8:27 pm

Which Romney itteration is he talking about. Really—with Mitt you have to identify at which flip-flop you’re calling into question.

  • 8. Gregg Jackson  |  April 7th, 2008 at 8:33 pm

    Brian,

I saw what you wrote about me on your web site saveWRKO.com http://www.savewrko.com/archives/2008/04/mitt-haters_uni.php#comments.

Perhaps you would be willing to come on my show (I will be filling in for the nationally syndicated “The Right Balance” next week http://www.therightbalance.org/) and debate Romney’s record.

How about next Wednesday at 10 am EST? then we can talk about the $50 co pay abortion Romney signed into law (that you apparently “never heard about”) http://www.mahealthconnector.org/portal/binary/com.epicentric.contentmanagement.servlet.ContentDeliveryServlet/About%2520Us/Connector%2520Programs/Additional%2520Resources/cc_benefits1220_pt234.pdf after his purported “pro life conversion.”

We can also discuss his illegal institution of same sex marriage in Massachusetts which is apparently news to you as well. (as well as a whole host of issues)

I will have John Haskins of the Parents Rights Coaltion who also joined Paul Weyrich and me and two dozen other leading conservatives in signing the letter that received national media attention. Wanna join us?

So what do you say Brian? Willing to come on and debate the issue of Mitt Romney’s record that we laid out in our letter to McCainor will merely casting puerile ad hom attacks calling me (us) a “Mitt Romney hater” do?

    Ball’s in your court…

gotta stick up for “pundit review”. last week’s show was about how much influence china has in our national politics and in our financial markets. haven’t heard this much long-term stategic forecasts regarding the united states since john batchelor’s nighttime show. now that RADIO LUZ took out the conservative radio reserves pundit review is one of the few shows left.

  • 10. Chuck  |  April 7th, 2008 at 9:50 pm

What Democrat has actually instituted “gay marriage” or established abortion as a healthcare “benefit?” Sure, most Democrats support these, but what Democrat has actually accomplished instituting these two?

As far as Gregg speaking the truth, that is all he speaks. If any of you have even cracked open his book, you’ll see that every single one of his arguments is cited with black and white facts…It’s hard to argue with facts.

And it seems as though everyone is dismissing Jackson’s “cohorts” who signed this letter for the No Mitt Campaign. Need we point to anyone other than Paul Weyrich, the founder of Free Congress and one of the co-founders of the Heritage Foundation, who endorsed Romney…And now he is against him for the VP slot!! There must be some truth to what Jackson and his “cohorts” speak of!!

Keep fighting the good fight, Gregg. We may have no other choice right now other than McCain, but we can still try to fight for the VP slot and salvage this ticket.

  • 11. Rosemary  |  April 7th, 2008 at 10:21 pm

Dear Brian, Hello! How are you? It’s been quite a while, eh? I hope we may discuss this issue civilly.

First of all, I have been reading articles that Gregg has written for a very long time, and he has been writing about Mitt Romney for at least (or almost) a year. This is not new. Look over at TownHall.

Secondly, when Gregg said that Mitt was to left of all the dems running for president, he was referring to the fact that no one else has established (unconstitutionally) homosexual marriage and (constitutionally, for now) abortions available for $50 co-pay in his Mitt-Care AFTER he proclaimed he was pro-life. He even went so far as to tell all the clerks to write Parent A and Parent B on the birth certificates!

It is truly a policy disagreement. It is not a matter of hate. I do not hate Mitt. Neither does Gregg. BTW, the person you are referring to is Paul Wayrich, founder of Heritage. I do not believe that Heritage is a bad organization. I believe you do not either.

I hope this doesn’t divide us. I really do. I loved working with to outseat blather (Rather) from CBS. You rock! ;)

  • 12. Brian Maloney  |  April 7th, 2008 at 10:45 pm

I’m not attacking Gregg or Pundit Review. I simply don’t believe Mitt Romney is to the left of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. We should all be able to agree on that basic point.

  • 13. Joe from Brighton  |  April 7th, 2008 at 11:16 pm

Brian’s right-he’s not attacking Gregg’s show or Gregg’s personal dislike of Romney. I’ll take credit for both though.

People like Gregg have made John McPain the GOP nominee for president.

    Thanks a lot Gregg!

  • 14. Paul D  |  April 8th, 2008 at 12:54 am

Joe from Brighton isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer.

No, Gregg Jackson and “people like him” are not responsible for McCain Joe. In fact Jackson wrote a piece on Townhall explaining that is was the pseudo “conservatives” like Rush, Sean, Laura, and Ann who bear significant responsibility for McCain when they misled millions of conservative voters by portraying Romney as an authentic conservative which had the effect of siphoning votes from more authentically conservative candidates such as Huckabee, Hunter, Thompson, etc which ultimately split the conservative vote and gave us McCain… Here it is Joe. perhaps you can turn off “Survivor” or “American Idol” and actually learn something. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/GreggJackson/2008/02/19/why_are_rush,_sean,_laura,_and_ann_crying_about_mccain?page=full&comments=true&voted=5

And it appears as though Brian Maloney is trying to weasel out of going on Gregg’s show to talk about Romney after implying Gregg and the “tiny lot” that signed the letter to McCain that included some of the major leaders from the leading conservative organizations in the country including the Founding Father of the grass roots conservative movement Paul Weyrich were incorrect about Romney’s $50 co pay abortions.

Brian who has never made it in radio except as a part time fill in is quite adept at smearing others in talk radio but apparently the skills to debate and defend his positions on radio. Perhpas that’s why he is doing saveWRKO.com. Aim high Brian.

Gregg’s position is that in the areas of abortion and homosexual agenda Mitt is to the left of Democrats, not in every other area. Mitt is indeed responsible for homosexual marriage in Massachussetts. All one has to do is read what took place and see that Romney could have stopped it. One also can review Romney’s history with gay activists; he gives them whole-hearted support for political gain.

  • 16. Mom in Ohio  |  April 8th, 2008 at 6:48 am

So I guess Mitt Romney would have Ohio’s entire legislature in jail for the last 15 years?

Ohio had a similar [Goodridge] situation where the state Supreme Court issued an opinion that school funding was unconstitutional and that the Governor & legislature must fix it. Even issued a time constraint. Liberals loved the opinion while rational people knew better.

Thing is, we have this gift from our founders called “seperation of powers” where one branch of government cannot bully the others around ESPECIALLY when 3 little words make illegal any opinion said branch may have: subject matter jurisdiction (which Mitt’s MA Supreme Court did not have in the Goodridge case).

As such, Mitt illegally instituted same-sex marriage in MA. Period, end of report. A sixth grader can read the MA constitution and Goodridge and see that.

This denial of the facts (all there in b & w) clearly indicates that these [ostensible] “conservatives” have always been more political than agenda/results-driven.

Since there are few kool-aid drinkers who weren’t paid off somehow to show loyalty-over-truth, I’m extremely suspect of this post.

  • 17. M.H.  |  April 8th, 2008 at 8:33 am

I have been reading Gregg’s stuff for quite some time and have always been impressed with his desire to verify his claims. I have yet to see his opponents go to such lengths. It is easy to throw out accusations, but Gregg does the hard work of verifing. Keep up the good work, Gregg!

  • 18. Mom in Ohio  |  April 8th, 2008 at 1:22 pm

Didn’t like my last post Brian? Too much truth? If you need to know specifics on DeRolph (the case Romney should have looked at b/f insitutionalizing gay marriage), let me know…

  • 19. Tom Blumer  |  April 8th, 2008 at 1:38 pm

Gee Brian, it seems that Paul Weyrich has seen the light, as he was one of the co-signers of the letter. He even admitted his original mistake in supporting Romney during the primaries.

And if you haven’t heard of the $50 abortions under Commonwealth Care, you haven’t been paying enough attention.

If you aren’t aware of the Romney’s gay marriage betrayal, you haven’t paid enough attention to the brave people at Mass Resistance.

As to the Obama comparison, Romney, in EXECUTION, has been to the left of Obama on social issues. Romney imposed gay marriage on Massachusetts, and he is on record telling social libs that he can accomplish as a Republican what no Democrat could ever get away with.

I was very skeptical of the Mass Resistance claims about Romney’s record until I dug in. They’re indisputably correct.

Moreover Brian, you don’t really even need to go to the social issues to reject Mitt. All you have to do is realize what an unmitigated disaster Commonwealth Care is. I heard last night on WBZ that the geniuses in the MA Legislature want to add yet another $1 a pack tax to cigarettes to help pay for the looming shortfall. The thing is turning into the Black Hole That Ate the Bay State, and Mitt Romney is responsible for it.

  • 20. Joe from Brighton  |  April 8th, 2008 at 6:50 pm

    Hi Paul.

Apparently you don’t understand English if you think Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh somehow bear responsibility for John McPain. Both have been wonderfully anti-McPain.

Perhaps if you tore your head out of Gregg Jackson’s rear end for a moment you would realize this.

    All the best,

    Joe

So let me get this straight; there are conservatives in Massachusetts? Seriously?? Okay, I definitely know one, Gregg Jackson. Gregg is a man of great integrity and has been speaking out against Mitt Romney as I have. You can look at the links to my blog below to see how long I’ve been after Romney. Brian, you can go on The Right Balance; I’ve been on there many times. The format is set up for the guest to be able to speak his mind. In fact, I’ll be on there tomorrow from 11:05-11:30 EST. Go ahead Brian, you’ll have fun! Gregg’s a gentlemen, he’ll treat you right.

Gregg Jackson is a common sense guy who is up on the issues of our day. Gregg is honest and is a man of intregrity. Gregg Jackson is a patriot who loves this nation and does not want a liberal who poses as a conservative in the White House. Gregg is a true coservative and most true conservatives concure with him. You that are attacking Gregg and behind Mitt Romney are ignorant of Romney has done in Mass. Romney is clearly a liberal and I am proud of Gregg for exposing this hypocrite.
