Laura Ingraham’s Radio Future Questioned Acela Hell

Word From NYC

by Brian Maloney, June 5th, 2008 at 11:19pm

I’m in Manhattan
for the talk radio convention which begins tomorrow, but already the buzz in the hallways is about Laura Ingraham’s abrupt and mysterious exit from the airwaves.

Today, she made a cryptic remark about being away from the show in a regular email update sent to fans.

In the hotel lift, I bumped into some radio people and their first question was about Ingraham.

I signed up for her e-mail blast months ago, and I only started getting them THIS WEEK…and several in a row!

    “In the hotel lift,…”

The lift??? Where did you say you were again? Was elavator, elevator, elivator, elovator, eluvator, elyvator too hard to spell?

Please post what you find out about Laura.

It’s because she became a mother last month to an adopted daughter from Guatamala and wants to spend time with her.

We can only hope she if she is indeed leaving that it’s Mark Levin taking her place. Even a tape delay would be good.

She is a bland talk show host. No big loss to radio.

WOW, Radio Convention? How irnoic. A man who has been run out of the industry is at a convention for it.

Keating Willcox, the owner of WNSH-AM, Beverly, posted to the Boston Radio Interest Group that if Ingraham is no longer available, he MIGHT be amenable to a liberal talk-show host in that time slot.

That “bland talk host, no big loss” has
    millions of listeners, bestselling books,
and regular appearances on highly rated
    cable news shows.

LOL WRKO Staffer…you got the FELON on the payroll…don’t think you’d know a truely BLAND host if they stuck the microphone up your nose. With the BLAND lineup of your fabulous station, I wouldn’t be so cavalier. Plus she’s in the top 10 of hosts. Moron.

Laura Ingraham and Mary Katharine Ham in the same week. Conservative radio/blogging is a lot less cute now.

You are all jealous of my superior intellect and general radio knowledge. Sticks and stones…

In any event, once I knew a girl named Joy. We were friends in HS. Her daddy made a pass at me one night after dinner in their basement rumpus room. Needless to say Joy’s daddy and I got quite close that summer. He is still in the closet, however. She is a bitter, fat, therapy-laden 40-something now. Sad.

Yes, and WTKK runs it tape delayed and I heard
Monica come on and say that Laura would be back
(but wouldn’t say when) and that she’s doing well

…and now I see Brian’s article about the
poss. she’s trying to move to ABC-Citadel
    and may have violated her TRN contract (etc.;
    see radio equalizer blog). interesting!

raccoonradio…is “Shut Up and Sing” your beach book this summer? Yeah, she might have million of listeners but Michael Bolton, Celine Dion and Kenny G had millions of people who bought theirlousy cd’s (it doesn’t make them somehow brilliant cd’s). Also, if she is really that good why isn’t she on in a better time slot locally? She is about as exciting as dry toast. Let Freedom Ring!

    racoonradio,

listen to wrkostaffer. the folks at rko know radio better than anybody else. who else would have the vision to put on felon, reese, wendy, and others.

rko is the stations others use as a model.
