WRKO Planning To Muzzle Rush On Obama Day?
by Brian Maloney, January 16th, 2009 at 01:28am
Is WRKO’s far-left management planning to muzzle Rush Limbaugh on Obama Day?
As Tuesday’s ‘O’verdose draws nearer, that appears to be the case. According to an email sent to WRKO listeners, the Entercom (NYSE:ETM) owned talk station will cut away from the talk titan’s program to carry inaugural events:
Stay with WRKO as America welcomes President Barack Obama!
On Tuesday, January 20, Boston’s Talk Station will have you covered all day long leading up to the Inauguration of America’s 44th President at 12pm. Start your day with Finneran’s Forum at 5:30am as Tom and Todd will provide all the latest news and information on what’s happening in Washington, DC. They’ll speak with representatives from Fox News throughout the morning among other special guests.
Laura Ingraham takes over at 9am with the national perspective on the incoming President. At noon, WRKO will combine the beginning of Rush Limbaugh’s program with the network resources of Fox News to hear the official swearing in and acceptance speech from President Obama. Finally at 3pm, it’s the Howie Carr Show! Don’t miss a minute of Howie’s reaction to this legendary moment in American history. It’s all right here on your home for the best talk radio in Boston, AM 680, WRKO.
That might seem reasonable until you learn that the Rush Limbaugh Show already has its own plans to air the takeover of the Obamist Regime, with the inclusion of El Rushbo’s live commentary.
THAT’S what Entercom has apparently decided to censor, they don’t want Rush fans to hear his take on the proceedings.
As we’ve reported previously, Entercom CEO David Field is a big backer of the Democratic Party and has consistently worked to undermine his own conservative talk stations for partisan reasons.
Despite that, the combination of Rush and Howie Carr has generated huge ratings for WRKO in the most recent figures, so Field is truly biting the hand that feeds him as Entercom struggles overall to survive the broadcast industry’s shakeout.
Field’s made it clear he despises WRKO’s listeners, yet doesn’t mind making money off of them. What did radio do to deserve him?

‘O’verdose is right. I don’t listen to WRKO any more, but I will listen to Rush as he continues to eviscerate Oh-Bomba. ‘So Un-Fayuh!’ ‘Give the man a chance!’ I laugh at all the whining and wailing from all the Bush haters who now see the mud being slung back at ‘their guy.’ I think all the advertising spots during this ‘radio broadcast’ will be PSAs for food stamps and where you can get them. Or, ‘How To Be a Community Activist…classes enrolling NOW!’ Big bucks in those PSAs…b-i-g bucks!

You two want some cheese with that w(h)ine? Bwa-ha-ha-ha.
Seriously, though, it’s a good time to be a progressive. It’s not a good time to be a right-wing nutjob (unless you are employed in talk radio). The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy (VRWC) is dead!
I, for one, will be Tivo-ing every single bit of this historic occasion, one that marks America’s decision to be more like Europe and Canada. That’s something to celebrate!

I intend a broadcast fast for the coronation.
I do not want to hear again what a great day this is or about thrills going up anybody’s leg.
The main stream media looks like a bunch of 12 year old girls at a Manuto Concert.
Sorry kids the high pitch hysterical, adulate screaming and tears running down their faces is far to much for my sensibilities.
Brian can you do a post when it’s safe to come out of my Broadcast Shelter? 25th? July? 2010?

CF will be celebrating while watching like a perv watching porn…
Sorry for the ugly visual but his pants wont go up for weeks as the thrill goes up his leg. OH OH BAHMAAAAA YES YES YES… Anybody have a cigarette? or a topless picture of Mathews?

The great thing about Tuesday is that it’ll quickly turn into Wednesday, when ‘Mr. Title IX’ will have to stop warbling and start DOING. In short order, the world will realize ‘He’ wasn’t created to ‘do.’

Don’t you see that when you folks “bring the hate” that you are behaving no better than the people you detest? Two wrongs don’t make a right, so why not be the bigger person? In fact, that is a lot of what Obama is about, but that is not the reason for my post.
There are jerks on both sides of the aisle and our only dispute is the proportion. I agree that Bush was abused and insulted by too many, but I think there are also moderate Americans like myself, who have left leanings, particularly in the area of domestic policy, who accord him the respect that his office deserves because we are Americans first. I believe that most of you are Americans first, Conservatives second as well.
Even if you are right on every point down the line, why be divisive and negative, especially at a time like this? We owe it to the country to do what we can to come together to rise above stupidity and partisanship. Elevate the debate by all means, but all this “Obamessiah”, “Oh-Bomba”, “ZerObama”, “HUSSEIN” crap is just stupid, and frankly beneath you.

I happened to listen to a few minutes of WRKO with Feinburg - I couldn’t take it.
I switched to 740 WJIB.
As for WRKO censoring Rush, it’s disappointing to the extreme but it’s what i’ve come to expect and what everyone will have to deal with once the Fairness Doctrine is voted in.
Unlike the liberal kooks that can’t wait for the inauguration I will be WORKING, making money for the company I work for and money for my family. Liberal kooks that live for socialism will enjoy the day off just like the EU has so many vacation days… but the EU is a miserable failure because of it.
If you want to improve the USA, ignore Obama and go WORK. Produce something.

“The main stream media looks like a bunch of 12 year old girls at a Manuto Concert.”
Quote of the day, man!
And to Mr. Pragmatic, I do agree with you to an extent. As I said on another blog, liberals win when they destroy the opposition. Conservatives win when we engage in the battle of ideas.
People didn’t vote for Obama to vote for him, as much as they voted against “re-thug-licans” who had been completely demonized by the MSM. And the MSM were successful in painting the campaign as being Obama vs Bush, not Obama vs McCain (who didn’t do himself any favors). This was 8 years of BDS insanity coming home to roost. How else do you explain that the Congress with the worst approval rating gets voted back in with a bigger majority? The MSM was successful at tying the current economic crisis to the GOP’s neck and they did nothing to combat it. McCain should’ve been out there every day calling out Barney Frank and his buddies.
Conservatives are not going to have the MSM to help destroy Obama like the Left had them helping to destroy Bush. We are going to have to be civil and offer real alternatives to his socialism. Let’s start with the bailouts. Nobody in the electorate wants them, but Congress and Obama can’t hand them out fast enough. This can be a winning issue come 2010 (like it could’ve been in 2008, but the GOP was too stupid to capitalize).
If we come out and follow the Left’s script for the last two elections, we will be called RAAAAAAAAAACIST and eventually ignored as “those right wing kooks.” We need to get back to what worked for Reagan and Gingritch - the battle of ideas. When we stick to conservative principals and explain them, we win. Every time.

The most wonderful thing is when you can get your enemies to essentially obliterate themselves. So it will be with Mr. Oh-Bomba and Senate Majority Leader Reid. The last two Democratic presidents were sabotaged by their own majorities, and there’s no reason to think the same won’t happen here. You have two Liberal elites both saying, ‘I’m the master here…and don’t you forget it!’ All that ‘hate’ for Obama? Well, it’s partially to get a rise out of CF and partially because we now have permission to.

Hahahahaha. This is SO MINT. I’m reading that Clear Channel is poised to announce big layoffs on–drum roll–O-Bama Day!!!! Yes, that’s right. These soon-to-be-displaced Liberal radio workers will start their day swooning and finish it crying. MINT. And the cherry on the cake? The poop will be on the Messiah’s shoes.

>>and has consistently worked to undermine his own conservative talk stations for partisan reasons
But if they were more concerned about politics than making money/getting ratings, wouldn’t
they have gone the Air America route long ago
rather than a slow death thanks to the Felon?
RKO has Laura, Rush, and Howie, which is fine
by me, and Savage who does have a following.
If Field were more concerned with idealogy
they would have gone AAR long ago. I know,
sounds like I’m defending E-com here. I’m not sure how much money they make (these days I’ll bet WEEI is subsidizing them with ad dollar money) but last I checked, WRKO was the highest rated _all talk_ station in town in 12 plus and was #1 in afternoon drive in 25-54s.
But I’m sure they’ll just let Howie flee to FM and
put Randi Rhodes on instead, eh?
As for Clear Channel, expect the libs to say that the only reason CC put things like AAR on stations like WKOX was to fend off the Fairness
Doctrine.
If WRKO really were going lefty:
6 am Morning show with Chuck Turner and
Sadiki Kambon (local activist)
9 am Stephanie Miller
Noon Middays with Noam Chomsky
3 pm Randi Rhodes
6 pm International ANSWER On the Radio
9 pm The Anybody Here Seen My Old Friend
Bobby Kennedy Jr. Show

BREAKING NEWS: Clear Channel Unveils MASSIVE Restructuring. Will Cut $400 Million in costs. Using OBAMA COVER for the massive cutbacks!!!
According to the NY Post:
“The company is also likely to move toward a “national programming” model that would require less local-level staffing, despite being criticized in the past for a similar action using centralized disc jockeys that made it appear as though they were broadcasting from local stations.
Sources said an initial round of layoffs is expected to commence next Tuesday - not coincidentally the same day President-elect Barack Obama is to be sworn into office. Clear Channel managers are hoping they can slip in the layoffs while the press is preoccupied with Inauguration Day festivities, sources “

What’s wrong with “*****HUSSEIN*****”? It is your cult leader’s name, after all.
17. ChrisNH | January 16th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
Thousands of radio engineers turned into ditch-diggers; thousands of sales execs asked to fill potholes; thousands of managers turned into steel welders. Yes…why invest in a career (or college?) when you can get one of these three-million ‘created or saved’ jobs thanks to OH-BOMBA! Why don’t we just skip next Tuesday and zoom ahead to Wednesday when the REAL fun begins???

Thanking you in advance for doing so.

Helen, are you as old and wrinkly as Doris Kearns Goodwin was on Meet the Press this morning?
Thank you in advance for answering honestly.
A yes will do. Ugly broads are always the nastiest. And they all worship Barack *****HUSSEIN***** Obama.
24. Joe from Brighton | January 18th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
Was that nice enough for you?
25. Helen from Prides Crossing | January 18th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Joe, Once you raise your posts above the
eighth grade level thought process you
should keep from using the name of our
President Elect. A good dose of “factual”
history written by Dot Kearns Goodwin, is
my unsolicited cure for what ails you.
Now why don’t the both of us shut up.
26. Joe from Brighton | January 18th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Doris Kearns Goodwin was last well-known for plagiarism.
What are you, some old schoolteacher that children used to harass on a daily basis?
If so, you deserved it.

by the way I think WRKO has done this before,
perhaps even with Pres. Clinton. They chose to
air a Clinton speech ‘verbatim’ without Rush’s
commentary, treating it as news rather than
news with commentary.

Re; “one that marks America’s decision to be more like Europe and Canada.”
How is that the case? When has Europe or Canada elected a black man head of state?

82% of Jews voted for Obama. How many of those “liberal” Jews would vote for an Arab to be Israel’s PM?..
Thought so…

Been Listening this morn with laura ingraham going over the inagural events and I have to say she’s just as whiny as she was when wtkk had her. The incessant commercial breaks are also making for bad radio. I love the pundits, but I’ll listen to their opinions later.
