WRKO Planning To Muzzle Rush On Obama Day? Confusing Leadership With Fantasy

Resisting The Body-Snatchers

by Brian Maloney, January 17th, 2009 at 02:38am

Inside any American
mainstream media outlet today, the internal pressure to conform to the Obamist Overload is clearly enormous. For many newspapers and Barack’s over-the-top cheerleaders at NBC, newsrooms are already so far to the left that good news judgment is now a distant memory.

To see just one of thousands of examples from recent days, take a look at Friday’s Providence Journal, which features a gaggy fluff piece on a furniture purchase by the Obamas.

But those who
have the courage to stand up to this wild (and frankly divisive) excess will quickly experience a newfound appreciation from grateful readers, viewers and listeners. Certain conservative talk show hosts have already recognized the need to fight back, but we are also lucky enough to have a newspaper willing to balance its coverage as well.

In recent days, the Boston Herald has carried at least two catty anti-Palin columns and today offers a sappy love-letter to Barack written (shockingly) by one of his Harvard buddies.

But it was also willing to consider that many here at home are feeling overwhelmed by the nonstop reminders of Obama’s supposed (yet unproven) greatness. Friday’s front cover provides a rare example of fairness. In an environment where the mainstream media believes it can compel us to love him, it’s a refreshing approach.

Another welcome perspective
comes from conservative talk icon Rush Limbaugh, who on Friday refused to cave into the silly notion that all Americans “want Obama to succeed”. Keeping the country safe is one thing, expecting single-party rule with no political opposition is another.

From his show:

I disagree fervently with the people on our side of the aisle who have caved and who say, “Well, I hope he succeeds. We’ve got to give him a chance.” Why? They didn’t give Bush a chance in 2000. Before he was inaugurated the search-and-destroy mission had begun. I’m not talking about search-and-destroy, but I’ve been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half. I know what his politics are. I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don’t want them to succeed.

If I wanted Obama to succeed, I’d be happy the Republicans have laid down. And I would be encouraging Republicans to lay down and support him. Look, what he’s talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don’t want this to work.

So I’m thinking of replying to the guy, “Okay, I’ll send you a response, but I don’t need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails.” (interruption) What are you laughing at? See, here’s the point. Everybody thinks it’s outrageous to say. Look, even my staff, “Oh, you can’t do that.” Why not? Why is it any different, what’s new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what’s gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here. Why do I want more of it? I don’t care what the Drive-By story is. I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: “Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails.” Somebody’s gotta say it.

Were the liberals out there hoping Bush succeeded or were they out there trying to destroy him before he was even inaugurated? Why do we have to play the game by their rules? Why do we have to accept the premise here that because of the historical nature of his presidency, that we want him to succeed?

With the Obamists
poised to assume power, his media supporters have now shifted their focus back to hyping “threats” against their Messiah by bitter, gun-clinging whiteys. See coverage here, here, here, and here.

For those of you not yet grabbed by the body-snatchers, now is no time to get sucked into to this absurd excess.

And finally, for
the remaining respectable media types reading this, here’s a tip: it might be worth your while to check out local and state offices on Tuesday. Apparently, some workers may be planning to take a fun-filled four-day weekend culminating in local Obamist celebrations on Tuesday.

Nice work if you can get it!

I see that due to ‘unprecedented demand,’ there is a ‘2-plate limit’ on the Obama commemorative plates that you can buy on TV. I called right away to order mine. In related news, I have decided to take up skeet shooting this spring.

I’m surprised that all federal employees haven’t asked for the day off. Oh, and how did the teachers union miss this one. They positively should be taking this day off also. Their students could pause and reflect on the coronation of the chosen one. Typical high school student thought process: Should I stay home and watch the messiah or should I hang around the mall all day and do nothing? I guess it’s the mall.

No matter what I will be called a racist. Even though its clear to me any person who would shoot plates with a black man on it obviously hates all plates…

Boycott news media from today until the next Saturday. I cannot stomach another Obamagasm live on TV or radio.

This personal black out is not racially biased, its simply because I cannot exalt a man who has done nothing but get elected to a position he is unqualified to serve in simply because he is half black.

I am not hoping he succeeds because I want him to. I am intelligent enough to recognize by the end of his term we will have national debt greater than we can imagine, a 50% tax bracket (I’m starting a referendum petition to tax trust fund income), terrorist attacks in the US, and get walked on by countries we try to improve our image with by giving them funding.

The good news its only four years and new conservative talk radio shows will flourish. It will be like shooting fish in a barrel. First fish Sen Reid in 2011…

Off topic a moment, OMG, a friend of mine called and said turn on RKO NOW, so I did, and, that horrible bill kelly was on saying that he is having a seminar at Lombardo’s in Randolph, located RIGHT NEXT TO the South Shore Plaza,,,,,,,are ya kiddin’? Does this guy have a freakin’ clue?? Last time I was at the plaza was last weekend and it was located in Braintree, when did they move to Randolph??

I am soooooooo sick of obama, I wish I could crawl into a hole for the next four years and not have to listen to the BS that is going to be spewing from him and his ilk. I wonder if kanye west will be in charge of FEMA??

Has everyone ordered their commemorative coins? A great value at $19.95, regular retail is $29.95 so that’s a great deal and there’s a ten coin limit so hurry, get yours now, operators are standing by……………….

Kanye couldn’t be any worse than “Brownie”.

Vernon, what exactly did you mean by “blackout”? (Just kidding, I just couldn’t resist.)

At least one school district I know of will be showing the inauguration to all of the kids, from elementary school on up, so the teachers will get to see it as well, without a day off. It is my belief that Obama will do a great deal to help education in this country, just as he will drag us into the 21st century with the eradication of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

I think a lot of the hype comes from the following:
-People participating in the process for the first time and being excited that their guy won. If you think about it, the demography of the voters in 2008 was probably the most representative of the actual US population ever. Democracy in Action!

-The passing of the torch to the next generation in the most clear manner since Kennedy.

-The first non-white guy to hold the office - historic and inspirational. Jackie Robinson-Rosa Parks-Martin Luther King-Barack Obama - this is a seminal moment.

-The disenfranchised democrats have their hand back on the rudder. I know the majority of the readership here is pessimistic about it, but there are a lot of folks who disagree. It is okay to have a different opinion without being thought of as “brainwashed” or possessing a “mental disorder”.

I would counter Vernon’s vision of the future with one that points toward a more educated populace, enhanced respect for the U.S. in the world community through the use of diplomacy, no attacks on US soil, just as it had been from Pearl Harbor until 9/11, more science, less religion, cleaner and more efficient energy initiatives and a number of other 21st century initiatives that will be inhibited only by our ability to crawl out of the economic crisis. That’s the vision people are excited about, and that’s what Tuesday is about.

Want a silver lining? The economic collapse and tightening credit means that college enrollments will plummet…or that colleges will have to–GASP!–lower their tuition and fees. But even people who might have the wherewithal to borrow won’t want to. The bastions of unfettered liberalism are feeling the pinch now and they will continue to feel it going forward. That’s a silk purse out of a sow’s ear if ever there was one.

  • 7. MAK1  |  January 17th, 2009 at 10:38 am

I think you’ll see that there will be quite a bit of resistance to ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

  • 8. BostonVernon  |  January 17th, 2009 at 12:33 pm

Mr P - the pun was intended;)

MAK1 - By resistance do you mean chants of homophobes directed at all whom disagrees?

Barbara - Thanks for the heads up on the quality of Kelly’s advise.

  • 9. Mr. Pragmatic  |  January 17th, 2009 at 3:42 pm

I agree about the resistance…hence the phrase “drag us into the 21st century”.

Surrounded by moonbats in Priuses, Subarus, and other alt-lifestyle vehicles, I couldn’t stomach driving around listening to the Obamanation coverage of Barack *****HUSSEIN!!!!!***** Obama.

57 million of us aren’t on prescription meds, but we’re certainly paying for them.

  • 12. Joe from Brighton  |  January 17th, 2009 at 6:00 pm

Barack *****HUSSEIN***** Obama: #1 with non-working-class layabouts and moonbats across America on prescription meds.

    Illegal aliens love HUSSEIN too!

  • 19. Mr. Pragmatic  |  January 18th, 2009 at 1:44 pm

You know Joe, I was tempted to address some of your posts, but I think I’ll just let them speak for themselves.

One thing though…not only do the illegals love HUSSEIN!!!, most of mainstream America is pretty partial to him too, hence the original post.

  • 20. Joe from Brighton  |  January 18th, 2009 at 2:10 pm

My posts don’t need addressing by you.

Wise choice. Go forth and worship Barack HUSSEIN Obama!

“Mainstream America”…the welfare collecting,American Idol watching,debt-amassing MORONS who’ve ensured that this country will not reach a tricentennial.

Of course they love a Affirmative Action bastard like Barry Soetero. A half-breed king for a nation of half wits.

  • 22. agingcynic  |  January 18th, 2009 at 5:14 pm

Much as I like Rush, he’s off-base on this one. The left hated Bush more than they loved America. The way to counter that is not to emulate them. We are a center-right country, despite the protestations of Rush and Olbermann, ergo the rush to the center by Obama. We are a great enough country to survive even this socialist empty suit. (And BTW Barbara, Routes 28 and 37 are about a minute apart on 128, at highway speed. I’m sure there are plenty of reasons to avoid Mr. Kelly, that just isn’t one of them.)

  • 23. the real Barbara  |  January 18th, 2009 at 5:41 pm

agingcynic, I’m well aware of the Randolph/Braintree area, and Lombardo’s and the South Shore Plaza are NOT right next to each other as the boring bill kelly claims, if you heard his boring ad you’d know what I was talking about, he made it sound like they were literally right next to each other, his words were, Lombardo’s RIGHT NEXT TO the South Shore Plaza, they are NOT next to each other nor are they a minute apart. People who are not familiar with the area will attend this seminar thinking they can walk from Lombardo’s to the South Shore Plaza in four easy steps. False.

As usual I listened to the program and BK did imply that South Shore Plaza was virtually across the road, though I don’t think he suggested that attendees of his seminar could stroll right over. I think his main office in Braintree though, is near the South Shore Plaza.

BTW, the real Barbara also wrote on January 17th, 2009 at 9:53 am:

He plays phone calls from at least three other grateful listeners.

OK, my last straw (so far) is Fox News Channel airing a Facelift interview with Wyclef Jean.

I usually turn to Fox News Channel to get away from MoonbatSNBC and the Clinton News Network, but I’m beginning to have second thoughts.

  • 26. the real Barbara  |  January 19th, 2009 at 7:57 am

Jim, BK mentioned that even though there’s a recession people are still shopping, he didn’t suggest people run right over to spend money but he did give the impression that because the seminar was right next to the South Shore Plaza it would be easy for those who wished to spend money…………………..I believe his office is up on Wood Road, which still isn’t right next to the plaza but a hell of a lot closer than Lombardo’s is to the plaza!

The friend that suggested I turn on the radio to hear bk’s ridiculous statement does not listen to bk, this person just happened to turn the radio on to turn the station and heard bk talking about how Lombardo’s is right next to the plaza, that’s why I got the phone call, so I think you are probably the only one who listens to bk!

Must be a pretty good fiend…er…friend. I will continue to listen to BK and report to savewrko.com as necessary ;-)

For the next two days though, during Obamania, I’m avoiding as much real-time listening as I can. I’ve got some podcasts of Dennis Prager, some XM downloads of coast-to-coast am, and WEZE, Boston’s Christian Talk, to keep me going.

  • 28. agingcynic  |  January 19th, 2009 at 5:42 pm

    Barbara,
your fixation with a non-issue is troubling. OK, it’s more than 4 steps from Lombardo’s to the Plaza. So what? Do people get to either place without a car? Who cares? Morons avoid Pond St. between No. Main St. (Lombardo’s) and Five Corners, (Plaza), waiting 5 minutes at signals to enter 128. Others leave the Plaza, making a 4 lane sweep across traffic toward Boston when they could just stay on Granite St. for a mile and enter from a rotary. You really do need to get out of the house more. Gotta give this Kelly guy a listen though….

  • 29. the real Barbara  |  January 20th, 2009 at 11:03 am

aging, get over yourself ok,,,,,I’m not fixated, the guy is falsely advertising, that’s the point, he’s luring people to his seminar based on the notion that it’s right next to the plaza, I’m not the only one who picked up on it, he’s clueless and he’s on the air for three hours every Saturday morning giving financial advice…….listen at your own risk, you’ve been warned,,,,,,,he’s the MOST boring person on radio!
