Ted K’s Seat Ready To Be Passed To Wife?
by Brian Maloney, February 20th, 2009 at 02:56am
In just over a dozen paragraphs, the Boston Herald’s Track Gals have delivered what seven days of a brutally overdone, multi-part Boston Globe Ted K tribute wouldn’t: an honest disclosure on where this is all headed.
Obviously, we don’t wish suffering on our political opponents, even if Teddy did demonstrate a callous indifference toward Mary Jo Kopechne on that day in the summer of 1969.
Nonetheless, the idea of simply handing Kennedy’s US Senate seat to current wife Vicki Kennedy will not be without controversy. Between a thin résumé, weak ties to the Bay State and a surname that means a lot less than it once did, especially to voters under 55 or so, sympathy will only go so far.
Could this be Caroline II, Massachusetts edition? Quite possibly.
Because of Kennedy’s condition, off-the-record speculation about the future of his Senate seat has been rampant this week - especially in light of a seven-part Boring Broadsheet opus that is being widely viewed as a premature obituary. And yesterday’s installment was interpreted by some close to the matter as the first step in a torch-passing to Kennedy’s wife, Vicki.
“It appeared to be setting up Vicki’s senate campaign,” said one insider.
The story described the former Victoria Reggie as “a great lawyer” with “tremendous political skills” and “great sense of humor.”
It portrayed her family as Kennedy doppelgangers and Vicki’s father, Edmund Reggie, as one of Ted’s closest companions.
“The Reggies and their six children had more than a little Kennedy in them,” the BB wrote. “Edmund was an unabashed liberal from the heart of Dixie . . . ‘Last one in the pool is a Republican!’ the judge was known to bellow at his kids.”
Although Edmund Reggie is quoted often - including in an anecdote that started the series off earlier this week - no member of Ted’s family has said anything to the Globe on the record so far.
Word on the Hill is that some Kennedy staffers are quite unhappy with the series, finding it far too critical of Ted. Not so when it comes to Vicki, who the BB portrayed as a politically savvy, stabilizing influence on Ted. She is credited with helping him to secure re-election in a hard-fought battle with Mitt Romney after the near-career-destroying Palm Beach rape scandal.
“You wonder how much control she had over who they spoke to,” said a Kennedy source.
Interestingly, the Globe never mentions any of the Reggie family’s legal woes in the opus. Edmund Reggie was convicted in 1992 of misapplication of funds from a savings and loan he founded in 1959 that failed in 1987. He pleaded no contest to a similar charge in 1993 and served 120 days of home detention and paid a $30,000 fine. Vicki’s brother Raymond Reggie was sentenced to a year in jail after being convicted of bank fraud in 2005.Should Kennedy be unable to finish out his senate term, which ends in 2012, a special election must be held within 145 to 160 days of the seat becoming vacant. The big question is: Will Kennedy make it known that he wants his wife to succeed him - a move that would almost assuredly guarantee Vicki the seat?
That the Kennedy family somehow finds this series “tough” on Ted shows just how much they’ve come to expect kid glove treatment from Boston’s media establishment. It’s about as hard-hitting as a generous helping of Marshmallow Fluff spread on your child’s sandwich.
Clearly, our evil Globie friends are once against working against the people of Massachusetts by pushing to install Teddy’s wife in the US Senate. But they may be underestimating the potential for backlash, particularly in light of Caroline’s Empire State fiasco.
Working in their favor is the massive outpouring of sympathy that will be generated upon Ted K’s passing. Expect Obama, the Democrats and their media friends to milk it for all they can, it’s Paul Wellstone times 100.

The guy is a lout. His political actions over the course of his political career have wrought considerable harm and damage to the USA.
His death will be evidence to the same - Massachusetts will completely shut down for a week with endless tributes and days of mourning. At a time when vacation time (or variants of paid time off) should be at a minimum, the inhabitants of the state will stall productivity to celebrate this husk of a man who has many questions to answer on his tour boat ride along the Styx.
2. the real Barbara | February 20th, 2009 at 8:37 am
The tributes to this buffoon will go on indefinetly, schools will be shutdown, businesses will close the state will come to a screaming halt to honor the memory of a murderer and then the seat will be passed down over and over and over again, the entitlement mentality, the seat is bought and paid for, for life, for anyone with the last name kennedy.

Next week, can we get back to how Obama and his administration have ALREADY been deemed an utter and complete failure for totally ‘winging it’ during his first month? On the flip side, I’m pretty pleased to see how visible his ineptness has been; the ‘100-Day War’ is proceeding very, very nicely.
4. WRKO Staffer | February 20th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
A little off topic (but on topic in a sense seeing that Margery was so head over heals about Caroline Kennedy)….Has anyone noticed how good Jim Braude runs that show without Margery? Margery, when you go on vacation, it really highlights your irrelevence to that show.
5. James Huberty | February 20th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
I think Chavez’s useful idiot, the oil hawker-Joe,will somehow end up in the mix.
I think filthy Teddy may be gone a lot sooner than later. By St Pat’s Day would be nice…though 76 years too late. Teddy was just Emanuel Celler’s tool…
6. bjd | February 20th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
The nation will be better with Teddy gone. The upsetting part is that his legacy will not likely be recorded accurately. It won’t reflect things like open borders, higher taxes, the extreme left views he held and pushed, and his criminal actions. He’ll be looked upon as a hero, not accurately.
What is it with the name Kennedy? Why does MA view this criminal the way they do? I’m not from MA, I don’t understand this thing with the name.
7. Mr. Pragmatic | February 20th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
Chris, given your outlook, I give you credit for getting up each morning. I think if I shared your beliefs I’d just kill myself. (That’s not me telling you to do that, just saying that I would find it insanely draining to be so negative. If it works for you, to each his own.)
I guess it all depends on your perspective, but I see a lot of people pleased with the course change and hoping for the best from the stimulus package (not to mention figuring out ways to benefit from it). Even Chris Wallace called its passage a “success” for Obama. The bumps along the way with the cabinet seem incidental compared to the monumental task ahead of us with the economy, and speaking for myself (though the majority of the country agrees with me) feels we’ve got the right guy at the tiller.

Staffer, I’m glad you brought it up. I didn’t want to beat up on Margery in her absence, but Jim is so much better solo. What I like the most is he’s able to have a serious discussion on an issue and get the relevant info. out without Margery’s filter. The calls are better because it’s just one on one, again without Margery’s distraction, and the substance of the interaction/debate is so much better than Margery & Jim debating an issue. She has too many personal issues and they seem to shadow any intelligent thought process. It has become so annoying listening to her. I’m sure she is an intelligent woman, but her intelligence does not she comes across on talk radio. Then again maybe she’s not that intelligent. She clearly is more comfortable talking T & A and tuna salad. They should have their own shows (I’ve said this before) and occasionally team up.
Poor Margery is just flailing about, hanging on by her apron ties, hands always reaching to grab Jim’s “mic” and trying to be cute in middle age. She is ruining that show. Whatever they once had on the air is no longer working.
There is such a need for intelligent talk radio right now. Jim is well informed AND he has the ability to look at an issue from a perspective that differs from his own. He has a great voice and great sense of humor. And he’s quick. They should take that show in a more positive (and less juvenile) direction. Sorry, Margery.

“Even Chris Wallace”….yeah, that noted economist. Most of the MORONS will ALWAYS LOVE OBAMA! It doesn’t matter he what he does. “he fo’ tha ‘ peoples”
Anything but pragmatic is an Obama supporter.

Margery is not irrelevant to their show, she’s a detriment to their show.

ONLY Entercom hires frog-voiced news readers. Chris “Farma” has to go…he’s the worst.
12. piratetoby | February 20th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
Mr. P, I share your sentiments. I’ve been more pleased than disappointed in Obama’s first 30+ days. I’m not, however, one of those folks walking around with Obama tinted shades. Sorry, Hub, we don’t all fall into your category. Actually, not only do I not fall into that category, I have a hard time with those who do. And trust me, I know more than a few.
13. James Huberty | February 20th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
A continuously dropping Dow.
Provocation in Pakistan.
20,000 more troops in Afghanistan,I guess the Heroin producers aren’t producing enough for boss man. Oh…I mean they’re “hunting Bin LADEN”..YEAH,THAT’S IT.
Expansion of government powers.
More debt amassing.
Aiding deadbeats who are irresponsible in their inability to know if they can afford a house.
Tax cheats, lobbyists and longtime CFR cronies fill his administration.
Federal Reserve thieves like Paul Volcker who’ve destroyed America for 40 years are his advisors.
Other than that…yeah’s he a real winner.
14. piratetoby | February 20th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
Yes, Hub, Obama didn’t inheret any of these, did he?
15. James Huberty | February 20th, 2009 at 10:56 pm
He EXPANDED government and debt. He EXPANDED the troops in Afghanistan. He chose his adminstration’s dubious characters.
He’s waffled on Guantanamo. One feckless move after another.
16. piratetoby | February 20th, 2009 at 11:09 pm
Yes, he expanded gov’t & debt. Hopefully his expansion will benefit the people who need it most. Debt? Sometimes you’ve gotta take on more to dig out of what you’re already into. Afghanistan? That’s where we should have STAYED years ago. (F*****g Bush). Dubious charachters? Yeah, he chose them, but what’s more disturbing to me is that EVERYONE is dubious. Can’t we find someone w/a clean record? My response might sound simplistic, but I’m sure you catch my drift.
17. piratetoby | February 20th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Hub, you gonna go all “Best & Brightest” on us???? I just reread my last post and it occured to me…..imagine catching Bin Laden? Soon. It could happen. Man, what an interesting dynamic that would add to Obama’s administration.
18. James Huberty | February 20th, 2009 at 11:33 pm
Keynesian economics don’t work when a nation is merely 100 Billion in debt-We’re at 10 TRILLION….there’s NO WAY that government spending can get us out of this hole. Nationalization is a nice way of saying Communism. The Greedy Berzerk Capitalists have helped create this disaster, but a modern day Fabian Socialist like Obama is no friend of the middle class. In due time, that won’t be a problem, because the Middle Class will cease to exist. The peon masses will be living in some Jeremy Bentham housing/work developments. More “shovel ready” projects like…building housing projects for all of the HONEST people who lose their homes. Unlike the SCUM who Obama’s going to MAKE US help…most of those foreclosures are in the Southwest…GEE WONDER WHY? Couldn’t be because of too many Hombres..nah?
On Afghanistan…of course Bush blew it. They blew it before it started. They invaded on 10/7/01, 26 days after 9/11. Plenty of time for guilty parties to split. And of course the Iraq invasion is one of the truly dumbest wars in modern history. But that said…adding 20,000 troops NOW,does nothing. UNLESS…we’re going next door. Yeah, target Pakistan…which would be beyond foolish
19. piratetoby | February 20th, 2009 at 11:50 pm
I’m no foreign policy expert, by any stretch of the imagination, however Pakistan needs to be watched very closely. That’s the current breeding gound for Al~queda. I’ve been focused on the stimlus package so intently, I don’t feel comfortable in responding to the troops being sent into Afghanistan. I don’t know enough about it. I’m a leftover from the “make love not war” days, but my head is not buried in the sand either.
20. James Huberty | February 21st, 2009 at 12:04 am
Pakistan should be watched, absolutely. But the current activity of launching questionable airstrikes killing “terrorists”, who 3 times out of 4 are insignifcant bit players,if not outright innocent civilians, is the type of thing that has “Blowback” written all over it. That NUCLEAR nation needs to be handled carefully…and what I’ve seen/heard in the past month really strikes me as borderline provocation. Obama’s “I’d send in troops in Pakistan” statement last spring was horrifying to me. That’s Zbiggy talking…
21. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 12:24 am
Hub, As I stated, I’m not informed enough to comment. I’ll do my homework and report back. “Blowback”? That’s a new one on me. Now before I get a migraine, I’m calling it a night.
22. WRKO Staffer | February 21st, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Looks like some of you misery addicts are already wishing Senator Kennedy dead. Let it be said that his office is known as being one of the most reponsive to constituents in the entire Senate (just compare his office to that of Kerry’s). You may hate him ideologically but he has worked hard for MA on a lot of issues you don’t even hear about. There will be a void when he is gone. Too bad some here are just always in gripe mode.
23. James Huberty | February 21st, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Yeah, Teddy did a lot for this state. Look at Lawrence,Fall River,Lowell, the South End…
Emanuel Celler’s anti-white 1965 “immigration bill” that Teddy fronted for, has DESTROYED many cities beyond repair. Those cities have been flooded with non-workers from abroad.
If you despise whites…then a fat scumbag like Teddy is your man.
24. James Huberty | February 21st, 2009 at 4:02 pm
In case anybody was wondering…
Spanish-speaking population of Massachusetts, pre 1965…1500
Today….500,000
“White” population of MA in 1965, roughly 94%.
Today…79%
THANKS TEDDY…
25. the real Barbara | February 21st, 2009 at 4:29 pm
I’m sure MaryJo is all excited about all the great things teddy did for MA, oh wait, SHE’s DEAD and it was NOT due to natural causes.
I bet she can’t wait to see teddy again.
26. WRKO Staffer | February 21st, 2009 at 4:36 pm
the real Barbara…you are an angry woman.
27. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Hub, You’re a smart guy. Why do you resort to name calling? “Fat, scumbag”? You make it difficult for me to converse w/you when you use those degrading terms, and you’ve consistently proven yourself to have an excellent and extensive vocabulary.
God, NO ONE on the planet hated Ted Kennedy more than my father. “Dad” was a bigot, a racist and a sexist. But there was no one person in particular within his prejudices he focused on. Just a general and equal opportunity dislike.
But Ted Kennedy.
He hated him so much, that he claimed to have changed parties because of him. Now it hasn’t been too difficult for me to battle any of the prejudices I grew up with. With the exception of Ted. Thanks, Dad.
See, Hub? Why I ask you to be mindful of your language?
28. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 5:18 pm
Babs,
How unfortunate you must judge a man by one event in his life.
Not that this matters, but I’m curious, what is your age range?
If I’ve crossed a line I shouldn’t have, I’m sorry.
29. James Huberty | February 21st, 2009 at 5:24 pm
My vitriol for Teddy Kennedy is second to none. I will “stoop” to name calling in his case without compunction. To me, he represents ALL that is wrong with this nation. A liar,a cheat,a hypocrite,a killer…he should consider himself fortunate that ONLY name calling has plagued him. He deserves so much worse.
30. the real Barbara | February 21st, 2009 at 5:25 pm
pirateboy, angry? One event?? Angry that fat teddy was drunk and killed a woman and got away with it? Angry that he is the main reason we are over run with ILLEGALS??? ONE event? The list is endless.
Puhleeeeeeeeeeeze. If you’re not angry then there’s something wrong with you and my friend, age has nothing to do with it, let’s say I’m old enough to know right from wrong, and what ted has done is wrong, wrong, wrong.
I was old enough to understand what happened when JFK was killed.
31. the real Barbara | February 21st, 2009 at 5:29 pm
WRKO staffer, see my post to pirateboy, you should have been included in that post…… angry doesn’t even begin to cover it. teddy is a loser, karma is calling, what goes around comes around and when ted meets his maker, oh my, won’t he be surprised, he will have to answer for his actions here on earth, everyone does, pay now or pay later, teddy did not pay for his actions here so he will definetly pay later. Karma, it’s a beautiful thing.
32. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 6:19 pm
Babs,
It was Staffer, not me, who called you angry. I made the comment about the “one” event because it was the only one mentioned in your post.
Anyone with the ability to reason would agree what Ted did at Chappy was wrong. Should it always be dragged into any current discussion on Ted, what 40 years later? I don’t think so. But it does. Does it pop into my mind w/any Ted discussion? Yes, it does. As I stated, it is one prejudice drummed into me as a kid that continues to rear its ugly head
33. the real Barbara | February 21st, 2009 at 6:43 pm
Pirate, yes the topic of MaryJo should be dragged into any and every discussion of teddy, why? Because he is a snake in the grass, he left the scene of an accident and as a result a woman died, if you or I did what he did we’d still be in prison. He lost the presidency for what he did, it’s his legacy, that is what he will be remembered for and granted as the older generation dies off the topic will die with them because the younger generation chooses not to talk about it, in this day and age to them what ted did is no big deal, he got away with murder. These days no one wants to take responsibility for their actions, it’s always someone else’s fault or it can be blamed on the economy or their childhood, etc. etc. etc. but, I digress!
34. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 7:51 pm
Babs, well we disagree on his legacy. For me, Ted was/is a powerful and much respected Senator who strives to ensure the less fortunate in this state are taken care of. The acts of kindness and concern he displays for others are often done behind-the-scenes, and that, to me, is a true sign of compassion and caring. It’s what one does when no one is watching. Is this legacy shadowed by Chappy? Yes it is. Eclipsed? No to me. Did it cost him the Presidency? Without a doubt.
I’m a true believer everything happens for a reason. Good, bad or indifferent.
I don’t subscribe to others who are of the opinion the Kennedy’s feel a sense of entitlement. I do think they are a fascinating combination of a fair amount of arrogance (paternal influence) tempered with an even stronger sense of duty and obligation to the less fortunate, instilled by Rose.
35. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 8:14 pm
Babs, I’m not going to open another whole can of worms with the karma statements. Personally I don’t believe in the whole pearly gates scenerio, but IF I DID (and I know Ted does), I would hope that “God” would look at Ted’s entire life rather than JUDGE him on a tragic mistake.
And that last sentence encapsulates my beliefs (or lack of) in God and/or the “gates scenario”. But this subject is both too heavy and too personal to elaborate any further.
36. WRKO Staffer | February 21st, 2009 at 8:19 pm
Didn’t Laura Bush run someone over. Yes, real Barbara, you are angry and sound like an old bitter woman.

Let’s end the kennedy crime family for good.
39. Tickled | February 21st, 2009 at 8:59 pm
Not any one we know can walk a mile or a few
steps in his shoes. Would we want to?
40. James Huberty | February 21st, 2009 at 9:07 pm
Laura Bush killed her boyfriend in a car accident in 1963. EXCEPT…he didn’t go UNATTENDED in the car for 11 hours like Kopechne did.
41. James Huberty | February 21st, 2009 at 9:18 pm
Thanks to Teddy…we have more and more “LESS FORTUNATE” by the day!
And that’s BS to begin with. Ask any poor kid of any color who suffered through the busing crisis. The social engineering done by Teddy and his Kennedy crony Garrity.
Teddy’s kids…EDUCATED AT ST ALBANS.
He wasn’t willing to do to HIS KIDS what he did to Boston kids. He’s a an evil son of a bootlegger.
42. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 9:22 pm
Bullwinkle, that’s “it” in a nutshell….walk a mile in my shoes before you judge me. Ted’s critics are always the first to bring up Chappy, yet fail to note how he had to endure watching two of his brothers die, in service to their country, by assassins. People seem to believe that the money and privileged life of a Kennedy means a life on easy street. That somehow the pain and suffering one feels when losing a brother, or any loved one, is less painful. That human experience and feelings are somehow different for “them”.
I don’t get it. The hate spewed against Ted baffles me.
And these critics are Christians? Believe that Ted will go to hell? Want his punishment to be eternity damnation? Isn’t there some vague Christian virtue that mentions something about forgiveness?
OK……I’m slamming my brakes on…..right now.
Hey, remember “Fractured Fairy Tales”?
43. James Huberty | February 21st, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Delicious Irony-Part One…
IMMIGRANT Sirhan Sirhan kills RFK.
But…Sirhan was here prior to Teddy’s genocidal 1965 Bill. So it’s not a perfect irony…but close.
44. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 9:36 pm
Hub, what’s your point on the busing issue? That Ted’s kids were excluded? I don’t think his kids were even old enough to be in school the year that busing started. And, are you suggesting one can not make a valuable contribution to society if they are fortunate enough to be able to afford private school for their kids?
What about a safety issue? If you were Ted Kennedy, wouldn’t you feel your kids would be safer in a private school?
45. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 9:40 pm
Hub, no Sirhan Sirhan killing RFK is not a perfect irony, or in any way close to irony. You’re really stretching.
46. James Huberty | February 21st, 2009 at 9:45 pm
Piratetoby,
WHAT’S MY POINT? Your sentimentality on the Teddy issue is clouding your judgement. You can’t seriously not understand my point. IF YOU DON’T DO IT TO YOUR KIDS..THEN DON’T DON’T DO IT TO MINE!!!
Busing started in Boston in 1974. His kids were 14,13 and 7. AS A PRODUCT OF THE BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS,post Garrity, I can tell you first hand that they are a cesspool. Outside of the two test schools(Latin/Latin Academy) the rest became absolute hellholes beginning on Sept 5,1974.
Believe or not, I don’t view his kids as deities. Make them live by the standards their rotten old man imposed.
47. piratetoby | February 21st, 2009 at 9:57 pm
You hate Ted and I don’t.
I’m done discussing this with you, and not for your school/busing posts. I’m done because your idiotic post on the “ironic” nature of RFK’s death reeks of glee. Like you feel some kind of joy in pointing this absurdity out.
Makes me sick.

You know what? I WISH I’D BEEN ALIVE on November 22,1963 or June 5,1968 to see those rotten SCUMBAGS DIE.

FYI - Ted lost 3 brothers and a sister by 1968 ~
56. Larry | February 22nd, 2009 at 8:47 am
The Kennedy’s have cornered the market on sorrow and pity. I have lost two close relatives to cancer in the last year. No stranger, certainly not the news media, has expressed sorrow and pity for my family. Most of the so-called Kennedy tragedies were the result of their own wreckless actions. Teddy and his family have benefited greatly from the mass media generated sympathies toward his family… The Kennedy’s should just retreat now and maybe help Joe K deliver his oil to the needy while he makes a half$mil plus percs.
57. the real Barbara | February 22nd, 2009 at 10:28 am
Ah yes, another one shows his/her true colors by name calling when someone else doesn’t agree with his/her opinion. Hey staffer, liberalism is a mental disorder, seek help.
Larry, you hit the nail on the head.
Huberty, you hit the nail on the head as well with Laura Bush, she did not take the cowards way out by running and hiding for 11 hours. Don’t retire Hub you bring a lot of life to this site. While we may not always agree on things you bring an interesting perspective to the table.
pirateboy, knowingly letting somone drown is a TRAGIC MISTAKE? You’re kidding right? A TRAGIC MISTAKE…he was drunk, he hid for 11 hours until he sobered up and got his people to take care of things for him, a TRAGIC MISTAKE?? The tragedy is that he is still here and MaryJo isn’t. Take the rose colored glasses off, of course the Kennedy’s feel a sense of entitlement, where were you when Caroline decided she wanted to be senator from NY, notice she didn’t use her married name, when she wanted something she immediately reverted back to her maiden name which just happens to be kennedy and we all know what kind of weight the kennedy name pulls, it’s a good thing though that NY isn’t as stupid as MA, poor little Caroline didn’t get her wish and you can bet all those involved will pay dearly for turning down a kennedy. Where were you when the rape case against William KENNEDY Smith happened in Florida? Where were you when Joe’s kid got hurt using ILLEGAL fireworks here in MA?
58. WRKO Staffer | February 22nd, 2009 at 10:51 am
Just pointing out the truth real Barbara. It must actually be kind of difficult being full of so much rage 24/7. Babs, Babs, Babs…….where do I start?
Yes, I wrote and will repeat TRAGIC MISTAKE. TRAGIC. MISTAKE. OK? Now take a deep breath. No need to post the details again. I know all about it.
Where was I when William Kennedy Smith was charged w/rape? I was in the US.
Caroline using Kennedy, rather than Schlosberg? Ah, if I remember correctly you defended Savage’s use of a professional name. Yes?
And speaking of Savage, Babs, quoting him (IMHO) is the mental disorder.
Finally, my buddy Hub? Interesting perspective? You did read his final posts, Babs, yes? And that, in your opinion, he has an INTERESTING PERSPECTIVE? INTERESTING. PERSPECTIVE. Let me say I find this as incredulous as you find my “tragic mistake” comment. Whether Hub’s posts are an indication of his true self/feelings, or prevaricating as a means to provoke, I have no use for any perspective with “hate” at its core.
Bullwinkle, of course I knew about Ted’s other sibling’s untimely deaths, and used JF and RF only to make my point. There was another sister who might as well have been dead, lobotomized brain and institutionalized for life. Just another “so-called tragedy”, right Larry?
64. WRKO Staffer | February 22nd, 2009 at 2:43 pm
Babs, did I just hear you call in to the Pat Whitley show promoting your favorite townie blue hair slophouse?
65. piratetoby | February 22nd, 2009 at 3:06 pm
What’s her SB fav? Amrihan’s or the diner across the street? Not quite blue in the hair, but I like both restaurants.
Now I’m craving pancakes from the diner. Or a turkey dinner from A’s.

Just listening to the news and heard Gov. Steele declining the stimulus $$ for his state. …..Gov. Swarzenegger (sp?) piped in, he’ll take it. Just struck my funny bone, for some reason.
67. the real Barbara | February 22nd, 2009 at 3:25 pm
staffer you are truly ignorant and I am not full of rage 24/7 get over yourself and pirate using a professional name versue using your maiden name is apples and oranges.
68. piratetoby | February 22nd, 2009 at 4:01 pm
Babs, beg to differ (again). A professional name v. maiden name is not apples and oranges. Many women I know retain their maiden name for professional reasons and use their married name in private. Then there are others who retain their maiden and include their married name w/a hyphen.
69. the real Barbara | February 22nd, 2009 at 4:06 pm
pirate in caroline’s case she used her maiden name for entitelment purposes, when was the last time you heard her referred to as caroline kennedy - with the exception of the NY incident, I believe it was the day before she got married, since then she has used her married name until it became apparent that name didn’t carry any weight.
In no way has caroline retained her maiden name she has gone by schlossberg since she got married, your examples do not apply to caroline schlossberg.
70. piratetoby | February 22nd, 2009 at 4:40 pm
Beg to differ yet AGAIN. Over the years I have heard her being referred to as Caroline Kennedy way more than being referred to as Caroline Schlossberg. I’ve often heard her referred to as Kennedy Schlossberg. Your argument is just ridiculous anyway. Do you really think the people of New York are unaware of Mrs. Schlosberg’s famous middle name?
And in conclusion, WHO CARES? I’ve never seen such brouhaha here in MA over a senate seat from another state. So much crap about Kennedy and entitlement. But maybe you know Caroline well enough to make a judgment of her as a person, correct? Or is the entitlement you associate w/the Kennedy name genetic?
Babs, when I’m interviewed for Vanity Fair’s mini-profile and asked what trait I find deplorable in others, my answer is: “judgmental”.
71. Truth in Media | February 22nd, 2009 at 4:50 pm
“When was the last time Caroline Kennedy used her maiden name?”
-That would be about 6-7 months ago when she was working on Obama’s VP search committee. Thanks for playing.
72. piratetoby | February 22nd, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Sorry, TiM. Your answer was not in the form of a question.
73. Circlet Soft | February 23rd, 2009 at 7:18 am
Can’t we all just get along?
74. Tickled | February 23rd, 2009 at 8:19 am
Which one of you “wing nutz” have Sen. Kennedy
in the ever famous death pool?
75. the real Barbara | February 23rd, 2009 at 11:35 am
pirate put me on your depolorable list and let’s move along. You have your opinion I have mine, we differ, life goes on. Call me judgemental, call me whatever, by calling me judgemental, you are being judgemental, see how that works?
76. piratetoby | February 23rd, 2009 at 12:45 pm
Babs,
I’ve already moved on. Let me just point out, however, there is a difference between making an observation based on what someone is putting out and judging someone for what they’re putting out. If I had put you on my deplorable list (and I haven’t yet!) I’d be judging you based on your post.
The Kennedys have always been a hot button and volatile topic. Similar to abortion. Strong and passionate opinions from both sides and not much room for any gray areas.
and…..
C. Soft,
I noticed your post this am regarding Staffer, and was surprised you referred to Staffer as “he”. Funny, I thought that Staffer was a “she”? Why? I don’t know.
77. Circlet Soft | February 23rd, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Judging by the beat-downs Staffer routinely hands out on this blog, I would say that he is a he. He is Clint Eastwood and John Wayne and Charles Bronson, all rolled into one.
78. WRKO Staffer | February 23rd, 2009 at 4:58 pm
I’m a he and the real Babs seems a kind of rough around the edges. She ain’t a he but is most likely a tough talkin’, scratch ticket playin’ 99 Restaurant goin’ gal. She’s still pissed about Mary Jo and is gonna let people have a piece of her mind. BTW Babs, thanks for the recommendation on Whitley’s show. You’re right, Applebee’s has the best steak dinners.
79. piratetoby | February 23rd, 2009 at 5:02 pm
Trust me, Softy, gender has nothing to do w/either the ability to hand out, or be the recipient of, a cyber beat-down.
Seeing as you’ve been here longer than me, I’ll take your word on the machismo roll-up caller “Staffer”. However, can I suggest another old white dude to add into the mix?
How’s ’bout Dominic Dunne? Any gossip worth listening to and is VALID, comes from a Dominic Dunne type of guy.
Hope I wasn’t offensive w/the “Softy” comment. “C. Soft” sounds like a brand of toilet paper.
80. Bullwinkle J. Moose | February 24th, 2009 at 12:49 am
It’s nice to see a Kennedy get old for a Change ~
81. Circlet Soft | February 24th, 2009 at 9:35 am
piratetoby, I answer to anything, but Softy is just fine.
I think I read that Dunne book about the Martha Moxley murder in Greenwich…
