Globies Continue Fight Against Working Families
by Brian Maloney, March 13th, 2009 at 12:54am
This site is not exactly known for racing to the defense of WTKK’s Vay Cay Jay Severin, but on Thursday’s show, he was right to object to the smear tactics used against him in a Globie piece published Wednesday.
Take a look as Globie Scott Lehigh adds this completely irrelevant point to his piece defending Obama’s tax hikes on working families:
That has long been the case across vast realms of conservative talk radio, of course. I recently heard one of our local luminaries who regularly accuses Obama of Marxism offering a similar sort of indispensable insight on another critical issue: Michelle Obama’s appearance during her husband’s speech to Congress. The first lady’s face resembled that of a camel, while her body looked like the Liberty Bell wrapped in purple, said WTKK’s Jay Severin, who, hilariously, fancies himself a political polymath leading a rarefied radio discussion. (Severin imagines any number of things about himself that are at considerable variance with the truth.)
During yesterday’s show, Severin wondered why he should be precluded from criticizing the non-stop barrage of puff pieces on Michelle Obama’s clothing and appearance, many of which have been part of the Globe’s faux Obama “coverage”.
From there, the rest of Lehigh’s piece pushes the usual Globie agenda of higher tax burdens on working families, but his cheap smear tactics unfortunately diverted our attention.
Lehigh ridicules others, including Sean Hannity, for suggestions that Obama may be a socialist, despite Barack’s own past rhetoric. And from there, he tries to make the case that rates aren’t all that high, but conveniently forgets to include local and state taxes.

Maloney sort-of-defending Jimmy Severino III?
Wow. I gotta pinch myself… ow!
Scott Lehigh really has a jones for Gump (not that there’s anything wrong with that!!!).

I’ve been under the weather lately, and realized there was something I wanted to post about Gump.
Earlier this week there was an article in the Herald about the panhandlers getting too aggressive. I listened to Gump and could not believe my ears.
Apparently Severino’s air is too rarified for anyone less fortunate to breath. In his words, if a beggar got in his face, Gump would shoot him, and if the beggar was outside of his car, he would run over him, and get out of the car for one reason only- to make sure he hadn’t damaged his car. His apparent glee in relaying this on the air was sickening.
I realize Gump’s tendency for hyperbole, but this kind of talk? Making comments about killing beggars because they had the audacity to beg from him? I almost complained to the station. As a matter of fact, now that I’m feeling better, I think I will.
Hey, if someone doesn’t want to be bothered by a panhandler, just ignore them. Fine. If you can’t help, don’t hurt. I hope no one in his family suffers from mental illness, because the vast majority of beggars are mentally ill.
And finally, before Gump makes any more comments about Michelle Obama’s looks? I’d suggest he look in the mirror first. Need a footstool Jimmy?

Hello,
I just talked to my business agent from the Local 69 (the Mendicants and Panhandlers Union).
He said they are preparing to a press release to respond to Gump’s on-air attacks on us. Pick up your local Spare Change for more…
By the by, anyone catch McFlea filling in for VB this morning on Fox 25?

It’s kind of curious that Jay cares so much about woman’s fashion. I mean, does he think he is the next Blackwell or something?
7. Circlet Soft | March 13th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
Ah, yes, magpie.
She was going on and on about a young male college art student helping her “frame” something at a DIY frame shop.
Do you think he fell for her cougar-in-heat schtick?
Also she was calling Jim “Big Boy” in that horny head cheerleader kinda way…
She was totally adding value to the show - NOT!

It amazes me how many people miss the painfully obvious satire in Jay’s comments on Michelle Obama. Amazes me and amuses me.
For people obsessed with “nuance”, you sure don’t seem to get it when the other side uses it.

McFlea on TV? Sorry I missed it!
Staffer, why are you surprised by Jaybo’s interest in woman’s fashion? I’m not.
Softy, good for those beggars! organized and became unionized!
Magpie? Missed most of the show today. What did I miss?

I have always maintained that I worked in radio because I had the perfect face for it. That said, Severino calling Michelle Obama ugly is something that takes a lot of guts. In the photo above Mr. Studd Muffin looks more like a bug from outer space than anything else. And with the money he makes you think he would find a hair stylist that uses combs instead of an egg beater to style hair.
Finally, I have no problem with horny cheerleaders unless like Maggie, they are 54. Think of her in a cheer leader uniform. Not my fantasy for certain.

magpie! can you imagine her at a diy frame studio with a young student? did he suggest matting? she must’ve been trying to silence that cougar screech and retain a bit of decorum. doesn’t want to scare her prey.
she’s all over jim lately, big boy, sitting in her lap….i’m waiting for her to fling herself on the table there and demand sex…..while on the air!!

piratetoby - Regarding E&B…you didn’t miss much. The last hour was devoted to things you can buy for a dollar. I swear I have heard them do this topic before. They just gave it a little update to somehow be relevant for the “tough economic times”. It was a pathetic hour of radio and it ties right into my earlier observation how they often “phone their shows in” but are never really called on it like Howie is. To be fair, Jim was obviously bored by the topic. Makes me wonder if it was Maggy Magpie who chose it (most likely). She did say today that while she is a good writer, she can’t speak very well. Hmmm…Magpie, I have to say that your columns haven’t been too hot either.

Does Scott work for the Boston Globe that is now worth barely $20m and set to become extinct, or the one whose parent company haughtily turned down $300m when offered that much by Jack Welch & Company several years ago?
14. Thomas Jefferson | March 13th, 2009 at 11:09 pm
the only acceptable tax is one that a person agrees to pay of their own accord. If you think we have this system now. . . 1) stop paying taxes 2) see how voluntary it really is.
Therefore, when government taxes people at the point of a gun. . . 0.0000000000001% would be unacceptable. That is, if you have some sort of semblance of principle.

Thomas Jefferson - Ok, so everyone stops paying taxes. How long before you and other start bitching because teachers can’t get paid, your parent’s Social Security checks are not issued, etc. I don’t love taxes and I think there is way too much waste but this libertarian notion ignores the realities of 21st Century society. Jefferson proposed America move forth as basically an agrarian society. In many ways I wish his idealized America continued on but it didn’t and for the past 150 years or more we have been a growing industrialized society (like the rest of the world). We have to deal with reality. Also, I guarentee that you benefit from someone elses taxes but you just don’t want to admit it.

BJ Moose- v. funny…and he is truly ugly to the bone.
TJ- w/all due respect, your ideology and semblance of principles do not translate as SIMPLY in today’s world as your post suggests. I will state, however, there is too much waste in how our taxes are spent/managed.
Volunteer tax? People hate their neighbor because they are seeking help from foreclosure. They are under the misconception that the homeowner, and not the bank, is responsible. They’re thinking, **** that, I don’t want my taxes going to bailing them out. They hold their neighbor responsible, and ignore the banks who are truly the responsible party. And this is what they’ll focus on, and ignore anything else that their taxes pay for. Like their street.
TJ, I can not comment on the nature of American people (including politicians) from your time. But I suspect they were not as self-centered as many are today. That their sense of country and community meant recognizing their own part in what is shared collectively.
God, how did I get going on this topic? I’ll do anything to avoid a nagging chore that I’ve put off for a few days.
TJ, I felt a bit of a chill when I read your post. Are you in any way related to CF?
