Globies Play Bury The Headline
by Brian Maloney, November 19th, 2009 at 02:05pm
The Globies have managed to bury the Alexandra Kerry DUI bust story, with just a small link deep on the left side at Boston.com leading to a brief AP story.
At the Herald’s site, by contrast, it’s front and center, with a locally-written piece.
Meanwhile, Howie Carr can’t wait until 3pm to dig into this one. Needed: a female “do you know who I am?” voice.
UPDATE: Rush Limbaugh covered her arrest here:
RUSH: I normally would not even mention this. Senator John Kerry (who served in Vietnam)’s daughter has been arrested for DUI in LA. I normally wouldn’t mention this, folks — and I’m not going to make a big deal out of it now — but I will say this: “I wonder if AP will assign an army of reporters looking into this,” because you know that if this were Sarah Palin’s child who had been stopped for DUI, more than 11 reporters would be looking into it, don’t you?

Yes, I had to do a search at the Globe site and found a mention in a “Names and Faces” blog and now you found this….otherwise, good luck finding the story via the various links on the Globe’s main page of the site.
Ready for Howie at 3.

Brian, I might have gone with a different photo, but it’s your site.

Cap’n!!!! Where did she appear in that dress?
4. Hoss | November 19th, 2009 at 5:13 pm
Totally off topic, but I would plow the bejesus out of that woman.
5. Cap'n Spackle | November 19th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
PT, based on the URL and the fact that there’s a red carpet (I’ll bet Hoss didn’t notice the carpet) I’d venture a wild guess that it was Cannes.

I don’t know so I will ask, how is the local TV stations playing it?
Because I live in MA, I did a post on it on my blog crediting this blog

Cannes makes sense. A woman could attend the festival topless and no one would bat an eye, except the Americans.

I don’t know about that forehead of hers. Has her hairline receded since that 2004 Herald pic?
9. Unenrolled | November 20th, 2009 at 2:43 am
According to the Herald story, the cop said she was charged with DUI and posted $5K bail. TMZ says the legal limit is .08, and she blew a .06. John Forbes Kerry says she was released at the station after passing the breathalyzer. What the heck? If she’s not drunk they shouldn’t be harassing her. And I agree w/Cap’n Spackle and Hoss

That was the right shoe. The left shoe will also
drop.

The taunt of Kerry (’who served in Vietnam’) is pure GOLD. It’s a richly-deserved dig at the haughty, lacquered-hair neanderthal.
12. Anti Brian | November 20th, 2009 at 8:23 am
Oh yes, the “recovered” drug addict is so right to taunt Sen. Kerry’s militarty service. I forget what branch of the service did El Rush Bo serve in? Did he make it up to Boy Scouts or did he wash out as a Cub Scout?

The fact that you’re angered by Limbaugh’s dig at Kerry is all the more reason for it to continue. Liberals will WISH that had 2009 all over again once they see the meat-grinder they’ll go through next year. Sponsor for this 365-day orgy of Anti-Obamamania? An unemployment rate that will still be rising next year.

There was a carpet in that picture? There’s only one carpet I really pay much attention to. Hopefully it’s the one that isn’t there. Or at least groomed neatly.

LAWL.
THIS IS A HUGE GROUNDBREAKING STORY - TOTALLY SERIOUS GUYS.
Oh wait.. that’s right.. it’s a non-story.
It’s not like she was involved in a hit and run like Laura Bush or anything.. and I’m sure them Bush Twins were just like “only a .08? Amateurs..”

The young people of this beleaguered nation are adrift on a sea of meaninglessness as we continue to banter about on partisan boats in an endless strain of gluttonous cynicism and sink deeper and deeper into this famine of morality.

Keep dreaming Chris,
And Scott Brown will be our next US Senator and Charlie Baker will be Governor.
BTW, the unemployment rate is starting to fall.
18. Cap'n Spackle | November 21st, 2009 at 2:55 am
RadioListener, Laura Bush was not involved in a hit and run.
Anti Brian,

The LBush accident was not a hit and run, she ran a stop sign and the driver of the car she hit was killed. She was 17 at the time.

Like I said, ‘Auntie Brian,’ you’ll wish for 2009 all over again once you see the pounding Obama takes in 2010. I’ll happily participate in that crusade. Hopefully Obama will be up to three or four packs a day and that HIS health care plan decides that he’s not worth the effort to save.
21. piratetoby | November 21st, 2009 at 7:30 pm
Cap’n: I’ll speak for Radio Listener and suggest he was talking specifically about Mass. unemployment rates which did drop for the first time since July ‘07.
While the nat’l average is about 10.2%, Mass. is at 8.9%…..not good but an improvement.
And I, too, agree w/Radio List. This is such a non-story. Which explains why the Herald chose to put it front and center. What a POS newspaper.
And the Globe tried to “bury” it Brian? Did it ever occur to you that this is NOT FRONT PAGE NEWS?
The Magpie has lost all objectivity when it comes to men/women stuff. And Brian, you’ve lost all objectivity when it comes to any Globe related stuff. Can’t you begin it “let it go”?
22. Cap'n Spackle | November 21st, 2009 at 8:45 pm
PT, I stand corrected.
Speaking of unemployment, go here, press the play button and watch the economic carnage since the goverment fell under control of the Democrats.
23. Cricket | November 24th, 2009 at 6:38 am
A spokeswoman for John Kerry said last week that the Massachusetts senator’s daughter was pulled over for an expired registration and released after a breathalyzer test showed her blood-alcohol level was under the legal limit
24. piratetoby | November 24th, 2009 at 9:33 am
Cricket: Last week?
Well this site can depend on you for breaking news.
25. Cricket | November 24th, 2009 at 11:11 am
oops, I posted the wrong info. The charges were dropped is what I meant to post.
I thought this was a non-story anyway.
26. piratetoby | November 24th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
wrong again, Cricket. There was nothing to drop- there were never any charges filed against her.
She was arrested on supsicion of being intoxicated, released and NEVER charged.
Do you read more than just the headline to a story? Try it.
