Media Morons See 1984 Music Video As Scandalous

by Brian Maloney, January 22nd, 2010 at 01:52pm

Watching the national
media and Internet smear sites try to turn Gail Huff’s 1984 music video performance into a political scandal is truly laughable. Forced to play catch-up after Scott Brown’s senatorial victory caught them by surprise, these clowns would have you believe their “investigative work” and “digging” uncovered Huff’s New Wave time capsule.

From the
Huffington Post:

On Tuesday night, Scott Brown’s wife pleaded with her husband to stop advertising his “available” daughters, but a video we’ve dug up reveals that Gail Huff wasn’t always so prim and proper.

The Massachusetts senator-elect’s wife, who now works as a reporter for Boston station WCVB-TV, starred in singer Digney Fingus’ 1984 video for a song called “The Girl With The Curious Hand.”

Here, the legendary
investigative team at the Washington Post is also on the case today:

After he got a Boston College law degree, he married Gail Huff, an actress who was known in Boston as the bikini-clad woman in an early-’80s Digney Fignus music video, “The Girl With the Curious Hand.” In the video, Huff’s curious hand poisons a drink and squirts suntan lotion in the air. (”It means different things to different people,” Fignus said in an interview.) Huff is now a well-known newscaster on the Boston ABC affiliate.

If anyone should
get credit for the “scoop”, if there’s one to be had, it’s the Track Gals at the Boston Herald, who wrote about this in October!

At today’s
Politico, we see this:

I suspect this video of the 1984 Digney Fignus song “The Girl with the Curious Hand,” starring the woman who is now Scott Brown’s wife, would have probably done his campaign more good than harm had it circulated last week rather than this one.

It had.
Did it help? Who knows? It’s a music video from 1984!

It’s just another element of the ongoing Palinization of Scott Brown and his family. Hope they are prepared for the spotlight.

I probably saw that on V66 back then. I know I heard it on WBCN.

  • 2. Unenrolled  |  January 22nd, 2010 at 5:47 pm

That video shows that Scott Brown made a good choice in a “running mate”.

  • 3. WesternMassGuy  |  January 22nd, 2010 at 5:53 pm

The last guy elected to the senate seat Scott Brown now holds essentially killed somebody. He was constantly reelected despite that negligent homicide.

And we are supposed to care that Mrs. Brown appeared in a cheesy 80s music video, and her husband was in a Cosmo photo that shows no more than what you’d see on a public beach?

You know the left has lost the debate when they start this stuff.

  • 4. Al Bowlly  |  January 22nd, 2010 at 7:30 pm

Wow V66, I remember that for about a year or so during college. John Garabedian.

Look for Ms. Huff and her adult daughters to be smeared in the way Governor Palin’s family was. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chicago thugs have goons following them around.

Once the euphoria subsides, we have to remember the depravity of the left.

The Brown family are our neighbors. We see them in Shaws and in the YMCA all the time. We can’t let them be Palined.

Do the WaPo, Politico, et al. think we’re all stupid? Everyone in MA knows about this video AND Scott’s Cosmo spread.
Maybe they think the more times they bring it up, the more damaging it gets. Idiots.

I’d take this kind of background easily over a guy who dabbled in “a little blow”.

Boy Brian even when your candidate wins you have spew the negative swill. The Gail Huff story is just an interesting side bar to the campaign.

Prior to the election you said that:

    1. The Globe would do a Brown hit piece on the Sunday before the election. Didn’t happen.

    2. ACORN was moving in steal the election. That has never happened and didn’t happen here.

    3. The Democrats would delay seating Brown till after the another vote on health reform. Looks like that won’t happen.

Brown is the flavor of the month but in less than two weeks he will be treated like the most junior member of the minority party.

Maybe you should borrow some money from your Grandmother and head down to to one of those Cape Cod gin joints and try and pick up a 50 year old divorcee. I think it may do wonders for your mood.

If I wanted to read “negative swill”, I would have checked out the Globe’s “poll of likely voters”. Up by 15 points, you say? More like every other poll didn’t say what they wanted, so they made something up out of whole cloth.

I heard the prim and proper Emily Rooney mention two nights in a row a pic of the Brown girls in clam shell bikinis. She seemed offended by all the exposed skin in this family. I would have expected more from the liberal minded Cambridge crowd. The intro to that segment actual showed a snipet of Gail Huff’s music video. At first I thought I had the wrong channel and TMZ was on, but it was the cerebral, highly intellectual, viewer supported Emily Rooney show. I think it is safe to say that Emily and the prissy professor, Dan Kennedy were Marsha Coakley fans.

  • 9. mojoe  |  January 23rd, 2010 at 5:26 pm

Oh come on. If this was a dem’s wife they would have all talked about how “empowered” she was by appearing in the video and how wonderful the daughters were for being involved with their Dad’s campaign.
    Palinization is right.

To point out the loser’s attempts to smear the Brown family is to “spew the negative swill”. Who knew?

  • 11. Al Bowlly  |  January 23rd, 2010 at 7:35 pm

    Anti-Brian,

Brian is right to keep his guard up against ACORN. They are laying low but they’ll be back. Most likely they were in cahoots with the Union thugs in keeping the “Nazis” press away from Her Grace.

During Mr. Brown’s victory speech it occurred to me that he might have thanked two kids in Halloween costumes who put a dent in the Obama machine and helped ensure a fair outcome.

  • 12. Medic  |  January 23rd, 2010 at 7:56 pm

AntiBrian. God, what a sore looser. If the election were closer in votes, let’s say a couple of hundred, you and your friends would have “found” a box of “missing ballots” somewhere in the Somerville Dump! Shut up and go serve your overseas assignment!

  • 13. Anti Brian  |  January 23rd, 2010 at 8:12 pm

Larry what channel were you watching? It wasn’t Emiley Rooney talking about the Brown girl’s outfits it was Dan Kennedy. It mentioned it while referencing a bloggers quip about the brown 20 year campaign against cloths. Rooney did say that if she looked as good as Gail Huff she would be happy to have the 25 year old video surface.

And Al Bowley keep an eye for the Black Helicopters they are laying low as well just waiting for the oders from the Tri Lateral Commssion. How many are you getting at your John Birch society meetings these days?

If I am a sore loser you are the biggest bunch of sore winners around. Don’t get to cocky, Charlie Baker will be the next Governor but that is about it including loses to the Republicans in the Mass Legislature.

  • 14. Larry  |  January 24th, 2010 at 8:49 am

Anti-Brian…You missed Emily’s previous night’s performance when she and she alone brought up the clam shell bathing bikinis which Dan Kennedy incorrectly called scallop shell bikinis. Emily made a point of stating that the press hadn’t had time to vet Brown properly. I thought Boston Common on Friday night went for the gutter instead of discussing why 1,100,000 citizens of Mass voted for this man and maybe what it means to the politics of this state and the country…That would be real journalistic inquiry instead they chose to show Gail Huff in a bikini.

  • 15. Bea in Biloxi  |  January 24th, 2010 at 9:55 am

All on that august panel would give all of their
clam shells to were a bikini. No need to be
discussing this dribble with so damn much going
    on in this state.

  • 16. Al Bowlly  |  January 24th, 2010 at 11:43 am

Anti-Brian doth protest a bit much I think. ACORN is real. It’s an actual organization (one might argue a criminal organization). It doesn’t exist in the realm of Art Bell.

I wonder if AB thinks CAIR is a myth.

here’s my two clam shells: I don’t know (or even care for that matter) which parent carried the “song bird” gene, however it’s clear which daughter lucked out with that Huff pout.

If Ariana’s (sp?) lovely lips are as soft as they are full, then that Ms. Brown has one killer kisser.

Here’s a tip for all: male/female, left/right, liberal/conservative and all shades in-between… Chapstick, Carmex, lip balm, Vaseline, Vit. E, aloe, any of the thousands of lip care products on the market will not do the following- exfolliate one’s lips. At least once a week, EXFOLLIATE. Buy a product or use a facecloth, remove that layer that’s only softened dead skin, stuck on your lips with endless applications of lip stuff. Then apply whatever you use for lip protection.

That’s the key to soft lips.

Huff/Brown lips? Well, that’s the results of the “killer kisser” gene. Angelina Jolie’s daughter Shilo was the result of passage of the “KK” gene.

Nothing too heavy for me today here. I’m electioned out and enjoying the rest. Fun and frivolity are in order, anyone w/me?

It’s amusing to hear how uglier-than-ever Jimmy Myers and that overweight, nasal, and gay-sounding guy, “Fay,” who’s always guesting on his show are with callers who disagree, now that Brown won and, Jimmy’s idol, President Obama’s, poll #s are down.

  • 19. Dr. Quincy, M.E.  |  January 24th, 2010 at 4:45 pm

pirate: Do you belong to the “Clamshell Alliance?”

    Carmex smells awful, BTW.

  • 20. piratetoby  |  January 24th, 2010 at 6:23 pm

Ha! The “Clamshell Alliance”! No, I was never an official member, however I was very aware of the concerns regarding nuclear power plants as I grew up in a town near a site, as well as having many friends who made a living by fishing and lobstering near the site. If I was a bit older at that time, I would have been active as a member. There’s a whole history of how the land in Manomet was bought from the Greenwood family (I think it was Greenwood). Anyway, he was hoodwinked to say the least.

Here’s another lip tip- I know many swear by Carmex- but I’m not a fan. In Whole Foods there is a line of products by Dr. Haushka. All natural, fantastic products, no added fragrance, no added anything. The lip balm is THE BEST and has a nice clean fragrance. And they now carry it in a stick, for those who don’t want to keep applying balm with their fingers. Try it. I guarantee you’ll be hooked.

  • 21. piratetoby  |  January 24th, 2010 at 6:29 pm

Oh, and as far as the “clam shell” bikini tops? They are scallop shells, but somehowwhen they first appeared years ago, they were called “clam shells” and it just stuck…..well they don’t ACTUALLY stick, but you all get my point.

Like I said in my last post, I knew many guys who made a living fishing. I know my shellfish.

  • 22. New York Pizza  |  January 25th, 2010 at 5:42 pm

I missed this part of Myers’ show yesterday but, whether or not it was a staged TKK cross-promotion, somebody calling to Senior Andelman’s show later said Severin called Myers’ show, got into an on-air “argument” and “hung up” on Myers. Did any of you guys hear that?

  • 23. the real Barbara  |  January 25th, 2010 at 6:46 pm

I didn’t hear Myers’ show, but, I did hear two women talking about it in the grocery store, myers is off the deep end, these women were laughing and laughing that ole jimmy has finally fallen off the cliff!

  • 24. New York Pizza  |  January 25th, 2010 at 6:46 pm

Gail Huff looks to me like she has some Norwegian ancestry.

  • 25. New York Pizza  |  January 25th, 2010 at 6:56 pm

It sounds to me like Jimmy Myers was slapped around in a closed door WTKK Conference Room by management and told to improve his ratings by being more “provocative.” I’ve suspected several times this has happened to Dan Rea in a WBZ conference room.

  • 26. Dr. Quincy, M.E.  |  January 25th, 2010 at 7:24 pm

The day after the election, The Globe’s front page map indicated Dedham voted for Coakley which, contradicts The Dedham Town Clerk’s results:

  • 27. Dr. Quincy, M.E.  |  January 25th, 2010 at 7:30 pm

Looks like The Globe finally corrected the results for Dedham:

I caught a few moments of Jimmy Myer’s “show”.
First, he and his guest were cheering on Obama’s health care plans and talking about how Brown’s winning the seat won’t make any difference to the dem’s plans.
I was out of the car for awhile, but just caught the tail end of the show. He sounded all fired up and was going on and on about having a different view than most of the listeners and how he grew up in places that we never would have survived. He said he is only on for one day a week and is more than qualified to have the show.
His views are pretty out of touch with 96.9’s listeners.
