Confirmed: Bob Grant Returning To WABC

(With the entire Blogger / Google system experiencing a morning meltdown, we'll break this story here, when it returns, look for an expanded discussion at the Radio Equalizer)

Eleven years after his termination from New York's WABC-AM over a poorly-received comment about Commerce Secretary Ron Brown's death, conservative talk legend Bob Grant is set to return to the station, according to high-level industry sources.

An official announcement is set for later today.

Grant will assume the 8-10pm slot vacated by Jerry Agar, who was hosting the show from a studio in Kansas City. Until early 2006, Grant held down afternoon drive at fossil-talker WOR-AM.

While continuing to enjoy popular support in New York City radio circles as well as industry respect, there are questions about whether Grant is a good fit for WABC's future needs. At 78, he remains a legend, but it's hard to imagine this run as more than one last lap around the track.

Just because he's on in years doesn't mean he can't do it.

I like Bob Grant, I wish him well. I'm glad he's got the chance to prove that he's still on his game.

When does he start? I get WABC NY up here in NH now that we're getting into Fall. I'll get it all winter too.

Get Off My Phone You Creep! Even though he is an octogenarian,Bob Grant is still a great listen. All roads lead back to him...

Lets be heard!

This guy sucked when I listened to him back in the early 90's and I doubt he has gotten better with age

He is cranky Johhny One Note. He would take 3 to 4 calls a segmet and never comment on what the caller had said.

I think he one of the most overrated talkmasters in history.. just a few slots behind Brian Maloney.

Please! You don't go that far, for so long by being "overrated".

He takes fewer calls per hour because he actually lets his callers speak too.
