Expose The Hypocrisy

Mystery Solved?

A few days ago, I was sent what appeared to be a throwaway line that was allegedly edited out of a Boston Herald story on the Dennis & Callahan lockout.

It didn't seem like a big deal, but someone felt strongly that I know about it:

``It's one thing to be a pig,'' a source close to the negotiations sniffed, ``however, hogs tend to get slaughtered.

But it must have meant something, because there was real concern over how I obtained the cutting-room quote.

In addition, I later heard from a different source that the line was almost certainly uttered by one of our favorite PR hack-flaks, but likely removed from the story after the paper pondered the ramifications of what sounds threatening in nature.

Now, it's a simple matter of putting two and two together: the hogs were slaughtered! It happened last night!

Clearly, Mr Hack-Flak was delivering a coded warning based on Entercom's negotations with Nassau, which left D & C up Crap Creek without a paddle.

Far from a throwaway line, it was a clear foreshadowing of events that were to take place later in the week.

Realistically, can these two (D&C) come back to WEEI and save any sense of esteem? If they do, they'll be laughed at. Mercilessly.

Sense of esteem? Try cents, and dollars.
That's all that matters to these guys.
But gee, I just hope that it doesn't
ruin Gerry's sunny disposition and make
him bitter.

Self esteem won't buy a cup of coffee. It's all about the pay check and keeping the home fires burning. Self esteem is for folks that are still trying to "find themselves". This is nothing more than business hard ball, Kahn played 'em like pianos. To that I say bully, well done. For maximum schadenfreude I alway delight in seeing someone destroyed by the plot they had intended for their foes. I just love the soap opera aspect of this whole thing. This is the real WKRP sitcom. Brassy female executive, very short male program director, pompous columists from the tabloid paper, political agendas all around, avarice and envy....it's all here at Save WRKO. It's swell.

"The radio business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where pimps and thieves run free, and good men die like dogs.

There's also the negative side."

You are close, but Regan didn't know about the Nassau deal until an hour and a half before the release went out.

I know the story, but I don't want to share.
