WRKO Turmoil More Bizarre By The Minute

Now, Feinburg's apparently back and ready to take over mornings, according to the Herald. Entercom's hardball tactics work every time with these people, don't they?

With a history of poor ratings, Todd had the least bargaining power. The problem for Entercom's on-air folks is that the regime essentially has full control over their lives.

No matter how much money ends up on the table, I feel sorry for these people because playing along results in a total loss of personal dignity.

"Todd Feinburg has struck a deal to co-host WRKO’s morning-drive show with Tom Finneran starting Jan. 2, a station source told the Herald today. The three-year deal worth up to $700,000 - with potential bonuses - was made yesterday, the source said, and Feinburg was spotted at the station and WRKO’s Christmas party last night at the Hard Rock Cafe."

Todd and Tom in the morning. Advil and Prozac.

Maloney,

You were so wrong on this one:

Feinburg gets his cake to the tune of "three-year deal worth up to $700,000 - with potential bonuses..."

That has got to be a nice raise for Todd-man.

It's more than I make.

The base salary is probably about what Scotto made, sweetened with huge and totally unattainable "bonuses" based on big ratings growth, which we all know ain't gonna happen on that show in our lifetimes.

Fill-In- berg is no talk radio powerhouse, but the last thing I want to see is him with the Felon. ( I hear that the Felon is meeting with the Empress & Coffee Boy to redistrict Reese Hopkins to the Cape Cod talk station). Feinberg by himself least had the ability to utilize a copnservative voice. If he starts with the Felon, its Claprood & Whitley all over again. Or will Feinberg start ball washing the establishment?

WRKO- The eunuch of talk radio - no balls anymore.

Where is Ozone when we really need him? Maybe next week we'll hear about the return of Janet Jagelian.

Where's Larry Glick when you need him/

Posted by: mojoe at December 20, 2007 03:21 PM

BigBish, glad you learned how to spell eunuch correctly!

That Claprood was quite the saucy little minx in her day, even if she did caterwaul... remember when she ran for Louie with Silber?

The Verbal Reach Around with Fillin and Felon.

I understand what your saying Todd.
No, it is I who understand you Tom.
I beg your pardon Todd, but it is you who is comprehended here.
Wrong again Tom, for I understood you long before you began to understand me.
Well Todd, let's just agree to disagree on that.
Yes, lets shall.

Jim Braude wants it your backyard.

Yea Hugh. The throat cancer voice was a real turnon. Her adams apple was bigger than mine.

Braude- If you're gonna plagerize, change your name to Barnacle

Posted by: BigBish at December 20, 2007 04:51 PM

*******OFF TOPIC***********
crap- The Verbal Reach Around is the intellectual property of BigBish. I absolutely stole it from BigBish. Actually, on a previous thread I congratulated BigBish on it. If I were a more clever man I probably would still have never thought of it myself. Thanks for pointing it out and maintaining the integrity of this forum. I am pond scum, I look up and see Barnacles ankles. My apologies Bish.

Jim Braude would never plagerize liberal propaganda puke.

Bunch of Jackals! Entercom is a horrible radio operation, especially for the talk format but give Todd a break already. Guy gets a morning drive slot on a big radio station, worked whenever they asked, took all of their crap and he's a sell out? Should he embrace being on the beach to make us happy and to salvage his honor? spare me. Good for him.

Posted by: Jeff at December 20, 2007 07:47 PM

He's not a sell-out, I'm saying that playing along with Entercom's games strips away a person's dignity. There's something sick about it.

I just heard back from my undercover agent who was able to place a hidden microphone in the conference room where details of Feinburg's new 3 year contract were hammered out.
---------------------------------------
Wolfe: Hi, Todd. Come in and have a seat.

Feinburg: Thanks, Jason. By the way, have I told you that I really like that new sweater?

Wolfe: Thanks, Todd.

Feinburg: Any time, Boss.

Wolfe: Todd, we'd like to offer you a new 3 year deal co-hosting the morning show with Tom that could be worth up to a total of $700,000 if you meet all of the incentives.

Feinburg: Great! Thanks, Boss. Do you mind if I ask what the incentives are?

Wolfe: Well, you know, there are the usual incentives...let's see, there's a bonus for every ratings point...a bonus for being the number 1 morning show in town...a bonus if your TSL is above 4 seconds...a bonus if your AQH is above 40 people...a bonus at the end of every month that you and Tom don't get into a fistfight on the air. You know, the usual incentives.

Feinburg: That is really generous, Boss. I stand to make a nice living if I can hit all of those incentives. Hey, one other thing. My wife will kill me if I don't ask. How much is the base salary?

Wolfe: Oh, yeah. It's $7.85 an hour. See you in the morning.

Feinburg: Yeah, see you in the morning.

I know that my previous post makes me look like an ass. I can handle that. What I can't handle is a guy like Todd Feinburg laying down for the crap that Enter-bomb is shoveling in his direction. He is better than to put up with this. He has established himself as a talk show host and, while he's not Rush Limbaugh, he's not totally without merit, either.

Let me put this question to all of you:

Would you want your salary for the next 3 years to be tied to the performance of Tom Finneran?

Enough said.

Posted by: NHradiofan at December 20, 2007 10:02 PM

Brian, what other choice did he have?

Posted by: Jeff at December 21, 2007 12:33 AM

I don't know if anyone else here are fans of Coast to Coast... but it's really WEAK how the last hour or two of Coast on weekends are "premted" by paid ads for vitamins and crap. I mean, I'm asleep at that time, but like most of you, probably, I listen to coast in my sleep and I find my sleep quite disturbed by infomericals, as opposed to the soothing and informative sounds of talk about aliens and crypto news. It kind of makes me think Entercom doesn't WANT me to to hear important information about aliens and crytozoology. What do you guys think??

The latest, from Jessica's Messenger blog on
the Herald's site: "UPDATE:
WRKO station spokesman George Regan said: “This is the silly season. We already came out with a press release.” WRKO released a press release on Tuesday that said. “Feinburg was offered another position at the station, but declined.”

Posted by: raccoonradio at December 21, 2007 03:18 AM

I am glad for Todd. He deserved something after his display of loyalty. There aren't that many games in town and who among us wouldn't suck it up to stay gainfully employed in our chosen field? Be honest folks and don't hold someone else to a higher standard than what you would hold for yourself.

demons lurking in the booth with both todd and finneran talking. who will mention the 500 pound gorilla in the room, now that the one has hair plugs and the other should?

laughingly, sheila said to me that we should see about getting more folks to listen now that todd is on board, so to speak.

do you think we should, folks, that is, prop up the ratings for todd?

Posted by: joy at December 21, 2007 07:57 AM

I am being sock puppeted again.

the one that begins with demons, not me.

It is "MOST OBVIOUS" enough but for those of you without a discerning eye I am here for you.

I am however flattered as the attempt is so sweet.

Staffer must you?
