Reese Hopkins "Updates" Bogus Bio

Following up on her scoop regarding WRKO's Reese Hopkins and his bogus website biography, the Herald's Jessica Heslam reports that the station has allowed him to simply tinker with it rather than face real consequences.

The further one digs, the more it becomes clear that his background is largely fictional:

His original bio on the WRKO Web site also said he “now writes for established variety programming like MADtv and SNL.” Hopkins has since changed that to read: “He has also freelanced for established variety programming like MADtv and SNL.”

A spokesman for Saturday Night Live said last week that Hopkins is not listed in the credits of the show. A spokeswoman for FOX, which airs MADtv, said she was told by the show that Hopkins is not a writer on their staff. Hopkins joined WRKO-AM (680) in December.

Hopkins said yesterday that he freelanced with other writers at Saturday Night Live and MADtv last year. He said he contributed one piece to Saturday Night Live and the other to MADtv, but neither made the air because of the writer’s strike. He said he was paid for his services, but was never employed by SNL or MADtv.

Hopkins said yesterday he “changed the language” of his WRKO biography so it isn’t “misinterpreted.” “I’ve updated it so that it is spelled out clearly,” he said.

It's beginning to look as though Hopkins and Entercom are a perfect fit: a sleazy outfit and a two-bit, street corner hustler.

And what the hell is this about:

On his bio, Hopkins mentions working as a logistics consultant for a large New York firm. He has since added a sentence naming the company and details of its sale.

It reads: “Logistechs Worldwide was purchased by a Canadian company called DYNAMEX. DYNAMEX sold Logistechs Worldwide to its competitor Choice Logistechs.”

What kind of "logistics" are we talking about here?

"Logistics"...
Isn't that a fancy name for a moving company?

I once knew a Wal-Mart door greeter who described herself as a 'Concierge and customer-relations manager for a Fortune 100 Company.' Perhaps Reese knows her.

LIBERAL DEMOCRATS and RADIO.
Reese claims to be a Conservative, too.
Shuck and jive. Smoke and mirrors. More bad Entercom decisions.

Brian, as you've said here so many times, it makes NO business sense for Entercom to swing to the political left. Air America wasn't proof enough, I guess, that Lib Talk is a dismal failure. Now, Entercom, along with most other Lefty companies, is crying poor...at how "bad it is out there". Meanwhile, they offer CRAP to listeners and advertisers! Entercom and the other lefty broadcasters have CREATED their own mess, but continue to blame...who else?....Bush! The war! Or Satellite radio! Or the Internet! Blame blame blame! But this mess is their own fault.

Even now, when you look at the actual hard numbers, HOWIE CARR has the ratings and listener support. It's where the revenue is...yet the station still supports and promotes Finneran's efforts MORE because politically, they HATE Howie. And Finneran is a miserable radio failure!! NO ratings. Where's the business sense in this thinking?

I sold my Entercom stock. All of it. And I waited too long. Lost a LOT of money as a result. I kept thinking that surely they would right the ship! The age of common sense is dead. God help America if the Democrats make it back to the White House. They'll run the country the way Entercom runs it's company.

Liberalism IS a mental disorder!!! Want proof? Tune to 680AM in the morning. Want great Talk radio? Tune to Michael Graham on WTKK 96.9. The contrast is astounding!

I am shocked; shocked I tell you that Reese Hopkins has a disingenuous bone in his body. He seems so sincere and honest.

I guess when the crossover negro crossed over, he left some things behind. Like the truth. Just can his ass for lying and be done with it. Oh, wait, this is WRKO, where lying is allowed to escalate to a perjury conviction and it’s rewarded with a big fat multi year contract for no talent bigots and hacks.

Well Reese, you're just a small fry in the lying department it seems. Keep it in perspective.

Ed Lambert was talking about this today out of WXTK on the Cape. What does crap like this do for the credibility of station management? Ooops, forgot again that this is WRKO, where credibility is not a job requirement.

On an ear bleeding note, The Felonious lying bigoted scumbag perjurer POS dug up career fingernails across a chalkboard limousine liberal Marjorie Claprood this morning. Cracking was immediately initiated on my windshields as she screeched back at The Felonious lying bigoted scumbag perjurer POS about some verbal diarrhea that mattered only to them. After 10 seconds I was craving a colon spackle commercial.

If WRKO were a horse, someone would mercifully put it out of its misery.

logistics consultant=loading dock at warehouse
this is really getting sad...

WRKO has found a nice niche called "disaster radio". You feel compelled to tune in just to see the carnage. Depetro, Scotto, the News Team, Feinburg, The Felon, Hopkins?, Sports?, Howie's contract, and it goes on and on. But at the current bottom of the barrel HAS to be the return of CLAP-RUDE. I sprained my thumb on my Bose remote switching the station so fast.

Claprood????

It's too soon. I've got the garlic and wooden stake, but I can't get the wolfebane yet. It's too early in the season.

anti-bradue, that is a good one! lmfao! claprood is truly the bottom... although i hesitate to see who they trot out next. for all we know they could be worse?

Posted by: joy at April 16, 2008 12:48 PM

as i drove to work shuttling between Sirius, and other AM radio no-content, I thought I was surprised to hear Marjorie on the radio, trotted out yet again....tell me, how many times do you have to fail on Boston radio before you NEVER come back? Is there anything redeeming at ALL about this person? I will never forget back in like 1996 or 97 or so when Stern finally moved to mornings from the taped evenings he was relegated to, replacing Charles LaQuidara, and Marjorie and Pat W. crowing about how tough it would be to beat their ratings, and they were a tough nut to crack.....i think within a few months Stern handed them their hats on that one!!! Is there truly NO talent out there other than the used up ones we are subjected to?

Just Googled "Reese Hopkins". Acc. to his MySpace page, he has been interviewed by both the NY Daily News and the Wash. Post. Just searched their archives, and guess what? His name never comes up. The companies he refers to did in fact exist - but he misspells "logistics" twice in his bio. How long did he work there?! Finally - if he wrote scripts for SNL and/or MadTV-he ought to post the copies! Oh, sorry, I think his dog ate them.

Jeez...sad to hear that Reese is kinda disingenuous...I liked that one show I listened to when he interview Peter Paul. He said he doesn't like dogs thou'...I can definately hold that against him!

Oh my goodness...Claprood is back? Who listens to WRKO anymore anyway? Michael Graham has the BEST local show and in the really early AM I listen to "Quinn & Rose" on XM...so much better than the repeated "AM Coast To Coast"...Quinn's tone sounds like a Morning Zoo DJ but I like his conservatism and he does know his stuff. Rose really isn't needed on the show...just a fluffy broad. (Proves Barbara's opinion is credible about ladies on the radio).

The IMPOSTER strikes again, how sad that you don't have your own personality.

Posted by: the real Barbara at April 16, 2008 07:36 PM

Reese, I went to Harvard under your name....hope you don't mind!

Joe-you made this thread with that
hysterical comment.

What makes phony bios like Reese's so convincing when they're "largely fictional" as opposed to being "competely fictional" is that "largely fictional" is mixed with true stuff, so all the false experience comes off as credible!

Then there's the Anne Pasquet “fundraiser extraordinaire” bio surreptitiously “updated” when an alert reader discovered 3 out of the 4 charities she’d named didn't exist. The edited version lasted a day then hightailed it off the net altogether. Maybe Reese knows her.
