This was such an insult to the audience. I can confirm that it was yesterday's show. Is 96.9 getting a big head now that they've passed their dying competitor by default? Bad move if so.
Jay isn't a national talent. Is he good enough for Market #10. It's possible he thinks it's like shooting fish in a small pond. So, he gets in his BMW and heads out to Long Island and TKK plays the show he did the previous day. I don't blame him. He gets hundreds of thousands of dollars to perform for the worst talk radio management in America. It's not like they would know the difference and he's sitting pretting on the North Shore while the tape runs. I guess that makes us the suckers and I guess that makes the amateur hour suits in Boston Talk Radio, well, amateurs.

Jay pretending to know about music, especially guitar players.
Jay bragging about his sexual prowess/pretending he's not married.
PS the fat Italian stereotype and his white version of Reese sidekick subbing for Michelle this week were better than Jim and Margery.
You forgot the whole segment every single day where Jay tells everyone how smart he is and how that makes the listeners smart just for listening to him.Could someone explain to me how hours of endless bragging and boasting is entertaining or even informative?In the real world we call them bores lol.I don't remember it being as bad as it has been lately,maybe I'm just tired of the same old shtick.
I bailed at a little after 4 PM, when I realized it was a repeat. I don't know from my own experience if it was announced that the show was taped but if it wasn't announced, obviously it should have been. I'm not all that interrested in Howie anymore, fortunately, I have Sirius to fall back on.
I like Jay, but my commute home takes about two hours (sometimes longer) and I rely on the radio to keep from going insane. I'm not going to waste my time listening to stale talk radio. WTKK needs to be upfront with us.
I always thought Vay Cay Jay was disengenuous and the smart folks who know radio here are the ones who informed me he was married. What a tool he is. I wonder what his wife thinks when the Dr. Kevorkian look-a-like brags about what a stud he is? It's not very respectful, but I stopped listening to Vay Cay Jay (other than election stuff and ONLY when I can't get my satellite to receive) because I hate how disresectful he is to woman when crapping on about how much of a babe-magnet he is. He comes off as pathetic to me now. Why the fakery? I'd rather listen to Michael Medved during his time slot and I loved how Vay Cay Jay's national show tanked.
I found a great alternative to the 6am-9am time slot on XM Radio. If you are conservative you'll LOVE "Quinn & Rose". The Rose part is dopey and I have no idea why she is there but I really like Jim Quinn. For an ex-Top 40 DJ he REALLY knows the issues and the show is funny and informative. If he's a fake he has at least done his homework, but I don't think he is. Give it a go...
I listen to Severin occasionally; when Howie goes to breaks, I may flip over to 'TKK to hear a few minutes of Jay if he isn't on break.
Jay's OK, but he can get a little boring with the big words sometimes.
Cap'n Spackle nailed it about Jay being a music "aficionado". Some times REAL music fans,particularly guitar freaks, will engage him in a discussion and it gets awkward fast because other than those cuts he plays,he really seems to have at best a casual knowledge.
Here's the best fib...he claimed to have been part of Johnny Winter's band!!! Of course,he gave no specifics,no dates,no names...this was back in late '99/early '00

In addition WHJJ 920 in Prov runs Quinn and Rose 6-8 am, if you can pick them up. Clear Channel had made WHJJ an Air America station but when the ratings plummeted, the PD announced "The Air America experiment is over" and these days they have Beck, Hannity, Rush, Levin, etc.

Rerunning the show from a few days ago is a real slap in the face to regular listeners who tune in every day. They'll pay Jay one million a year to work part-time from his home but won't bring in a fill-in host to keep their loyal daily listeners entertained. I guess Michael Graham got sick of doing double duty while Jay takes yet another vacation/day off.
I have to laugh when everyone who calls in says "I love your show". I like listening to Jay but the "show" is awful. Jay is on for about 20 minutes between 5 and 6. He'll break from 5:35 to 5:45, take one call that is quickly cut off, and then enter another 20 minute break. I tune in to hear Jay but instead are force fed news, traffic, weather, sports, business reports and endless commercials. Why would they pay Jay so much money and then fill the show with filler that the "best & brightest" can easily get with a few clicks on their computers. I don't tune in for stock prices, I tune in to hear Jay!
I'm really getting sick of WTKK's insane programming and have started listening to Mark Levin Podcasts instead.
I don't get tired of carrying Howie's water because I don't. I'm a fan of his show and
do the ping list at Free Republic.
