Expose The Hypocrisy

Piling On The Herald

Isn't it interesting to watch the Boston media establishment piling on the Herald today?

After apologizing for running an apparently bogus Spygate story, the paper has come clean with a prominently-placed apology.

That has The Globies and their snooty establishment fellow-travellers snickering and enjoying the chance to tear apart the region's last real opposition voice.

That's despite the fact that even Pats team owner Robert Kraft is satisfied with the apology.

Do you mean to tell me The Globies have never made a mistake? That story fabricator Jayson Blair was never employed by their parent company?

And when they are caught, do they position the apology in such a prominent manner? They must think we have short memories.

Testing one two three! Yup Howie is talking about it. Saying he can't defend it...The Big Show is pretty much pre-empted by Sox but Howie is
talking about it.

Leave it to you to defend "the region's last real opposition voice". Opposition to the truth maybe, or perhaps opposition to objectivity, or opposition to fact checking.

The Globe has made mistakes as well and should be held to the same standards of journalistic ethics and should be subject to the same criticism. I don't argue that at all.

Having said that, the Herald can be scurrilous. This is not an isolated case of fast and loose journalism, only their most notorious and far reaching. There are a number of other instances where I have personal knowledge of untruths that have been printed in The Herald. This incident should give pause to anyone who blindly believes what they read in any paper (or see on TV for that matter).

I wouldn't be surprised if the 'satisfied' Bob Kraft still launches a lawsuit against the Herald. At a minimum, Tomase is toast. He'll be blackballed by the team at every turn. Legally, he probably cannot be denied a press credential. But you can be sure that the team and its personnel will make life a living hell for John Tomase. So much so that he probably will move to North Dakota and cover Dodge Ball for some local rag.

The Herald fabricated the story. This wasn't a mistake, it was a deliberate attack on the Patriots. It's not complicated. They had zero evidence and just made up a story to sell newspapers. Sticking up for that is ridiculous.
