Expose The Hypocrisy

Spend, Spend, Spend This Weekend!

Every year at about this time, Boston's media establishment fills column space and airtime with dismissive stories about the annual sales tax holiday weekend.

Consumers merely shift planned purchases, we're told, saving shoppers little, while depriving the Commonwealth of much-needed revenue.

But with the economy hurting this year, there's no way to spin the coverage other than to admit Bay State retailers badly need the boost. They're running extra sales to coincide with the hoped-for rush of customers.

That has even the Globies running seemingly pro-holiday coverage for a change. This, buried at the end of their most recent story, jumps off of the page:

But for some customers, the tax-free weekend gives them that extra nudge they need to make big purchases.

Gareth McKinley, of Acton, has been eyeing a 50-inch Panasonic plasma TV for six months, slowly watching the price go down until it hit $2,500. He planned to make the one-hour drive to New Hampshire to avoid paying sales tax. Now, he plans to wait until Saturday.

"This is exactly what I needed to push me over the edge."

That's right, the holiday helps to cut down on widespread evasion caused by Bay Staters shopping in New Hampshire or elsewhere.

Even if you're "only" saving $100 on a $2000 purchase (nothing to sneeze at), that's beside the point. The real message should be that Beacon Hill's reckless spenders doesn't deserve our money.

A tax holiday is great.

But repeal the income tax. Think of how many connected hacks from Hell won't be able to get jobs and then steal from copy machines, steal toll money, or collect paychecks they don't earn (theft of the highest order, and none of them actually work, let's face it).

Let's return the public sector hacks (and aside from cops who don't stand over holes in the ground making 30 dollars or more per hour, and firefighters, they're all useless) to the private sector (or their parents' basements).

Yes on Question 1 people. Anyone who votes against it is either a hack or related to one (or went to public school in Massachusetts).

Taxpayers up, teachers' unions down.

Sadly, I have to admit that my family does the same thing: drives to NH to avoid paying MA sales tax on big-ticket items. I suspect lots and lots of MA residents do (although I feel very guilty).

Does that make me a scofflaw? I hope so - I always wanted to be the "bad boy." I will break out my Fonzie leather jacket tonight for the trek to the Cape! :-)

McKinley could have had his 50 inch plasma anytime over the last 2 years by taking the "one hour drive" to New Hampshire. This is just another example of people as lemmings. Big deal. 5% off. I don't get it. You can drive to NH 365 days a year and save the 5% sales tax.

I caught myself momentarily thinking about what I might buy this weekend and then said to myself, "self, you live 10 miles from New Hampshire, get a grip". The only upside might be a piece of furniture or appliance that needs to be delivered but even at that many of the big appliance retailers in NH contract out to independent deliverers that don't care where it is being dropped. So bottomline, no big whoop.

Yes, always remember that Celtic Frost is the biggest troll on this site. Oh and you retard creep CF...that was NOT me that posted as you in the previous thread. Nice try toerag! I use the same e-mail addy all the time and Brian can confirm that. You were the one who posted or someone else here decided to give you a taste of you sick medicine. No one beileves you anyway!

Oh and if you doubt me, just check out the archives and see CF's slime trail of fake personalities and hi-jacking of previous poster's handles. You see, he hasn't had to hi-jack any as of late because he is firmly condensed in his FAKE Celtic Frost persona and when he does fake, he creates a new name (like Lawrence for the nasty Tony Snow post and/or stealing the Tony Jankowski handle...the real one hasn't been here in ages).

I laughed 'til tears ran down my spine at his words to Barbara. Wanna know why he misses Barbara? He had fun posing as "Joy" and saying "Hey, Girlfriend" in every post to her a few months back. She finally caught on that the Joy engaing her was a fake...she just never figured it was ole, mentally ill CF.

I just love filling people in on old, lonely, SSI collecting CF. That creep can't afford boots to shake in on his SSI stipend...but your taxpayer dollars are paying for him to troll here 24/7.

All the tax holiday does is fund the Zionist war machine that slaughters Arab children by the minute...don't aid the new Nazis cause!!!

Posted by: Celtic Frost at August 15, 2008 01:25 PM

So much resentment! Chronic anger is hurtful to the soul, JSYK. You should really get some help for that.

BTW, by "condensed" did you mean ensconced? Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.

NH needs things like a Tax Holiday. I imagine it would be like EVERY OTHER DAY up here. One of the many wonders of part time legislators.

Wouldn't it be a riot if CF was traced back and it turned out to be jason or julie thinking they could make this site go away by posting ramblings that make sense only to somebody with an intelect of felon or claprude?

No retard I did NOT mean ensconced...I meant condensed...just like I said, dummy because you have condensed MANY of your alter egos into your current Celtic Frost personae that you use NOW...dum-dum. MWWAAAAH!

With every post it makes it so much easier for those who check out your archives to because you slip in words and phrases and writing styles of the previous and many other IMPOSTERS you pilfered in the past. It builds my case more and more so keep it up brain box.

Brian you MUST do something about these trolls! They post vicious, vituperative hate about ME...they are all neo-con Zionists!

Hey, I'm da alpha male in dis here blog. See? My daddy abandoned me when I was born, so I've had to develop dis tough-guy facade to show everyone dat I don't need no one. See? I am macho man.

Posted by: JSYK at August 15, 2008 08:06 PM

These trolls!!! It must stop,my partner and I are considering litigation against the smears...puhleeze Brian, help!

Posted by: Celtic Frost at August 15, 2008 09:10 PM

Celtic Frost,

There will be no litigation. In order for you to sue someone for libel, you must be able to prove:

1. The written statements are untrue, and
2. The alleged libel caused harm, shame, public ridicule or financial loss.

None of these are possible since you are anonymous. It is impossible for an anonymous poster to a website discussion thread to be harmed in these ways. We may think you are a pretentious gay-baiter but that is just our opinion. Since you have not identified yourself, there can be no proof of damage to you. Celtic Frost is not a real person, therefore, he/she/it can't be libeled. Celtic Frost claiming libel is like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny suing for workman's compensation and unpaid overtime. Please get over yourself and either contribute something of value or find another website to haunt. Your schtick is old and tired. If I didn't know better, I would think you are one of the geniuses helping to "manage" WRKO. Isn't that right, Jason?

Obviously I did not write the illiterate post that hi-jacked my name. I couldn't even be that stupid if I tried. It's simple to figure if I really wrote a post or if some illiterate dunce is using my handle. Plus I use the SAME e-mail each time so those behind the scenes can easily tell if it's me or not.

Alpha male?...ding-dong, you're wrong...I'm not a male and have never been a male. LOL!

I don't know how we turned this thread into a troll war, but, getting back to the point of the article, the people of Masssachusetts really need to wake up to the reality of how poorly they are served by their state and local governments. The recent spate of stories of public sector workers going out on very suspicious disability retirement packages and the ensuing Federal investigation should leave no one surprised that corruption has reached a new high in the Bay State.

The real question is: Why do the people of Massachusetts seem so unwilling to do anything about it? There are plenty of conservative people in Massachusetts but the Republican presence in the State House is laughable. What, a dozen members, at best? Everyone complains about the state of the State while they continue to elect hacks to power positions. Why in the world would Ted Kennedy be sent back to the Senate for nearly half a century? Why has John Kerry stayed in the Senate as long as he has? What's up with the total domination of the congressional delegation by Democrats? When the politicians see that there is no real chance that they or their party will be replaced, why would they ever consider real reform like abolishing the state income tax or ending the Mass Pike cash machine. You have to vote a bunch of them out for the rest to get the message. What do you suppose would be the size of the earthquake if the Nightswimmer or the the Marrying Man lost their Senate seat to a Republican? At least it would get the ball rolling.

I guess people in Massachusetts are content to see hard working tax payers leave for other states. Eventually, no one will be left to pay the bills. You can't run a state inhabited only by illegal aliens, welfare slugs and trust fund Liberals. Good luck with that.

I live in MA and I can tell you the people here vote out of habit,,,it's like they can't help themselves, they see the letter D after a name and they pull the lever, no other party exists in this state, I have relatives who will not listen to reason, they are hypnotized by the letter D, no matter how much I point out the absurdity of some of these in power, and mind you some of my relatives agree especially with the deval debacle and kennedy and kerry, yet they will continually and automatically pull the lever for anyone with a D after his/her name. It's a disease,,,,,as Michael Savage says,,,,liberalism is a mental disorder, there is much truth to that statement.

Posted by: the real Barbara at August 17, 2008 12:42 PM

real Barbara

What you say is so true. The literal stranglehold the Democrats have on people is mindboggleing. Otherwise normal intelligent people lose all capabilities of common sense when they enter the voting booth. They see the capital letter D and that is who they vote for regardless of how big of piece of scum that person is.

I can almost guarantee you if that perverted Senator James Marzilli (D-Arlington) was still running he would win despite the fact he is a known sexual deviant. People in his district wouldn't care, the moonbats would gladly vote him back in. Hence what Michael Savage says is correct. Liberalism is a mental disorder.
